Friends, it is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement. Strelok Stormhorn, Accepted of the White Tower, has been taken from us far too soon.

I didn’t know Steve personally, and in the last year I’ve come to deeply regret that. He was — is — beloved by the Wheel of Time fandom community. He was a true Servant of All, and though he was not able to complete his journey with us, he has more than earned that title.

I hereby recognize Strelok as an Aes Sedai of the White Tower, unaffiliated with any Ajah or Company.

Those of you who knew Strelok, please share your memories of him here, and let him live on in our memories.

May the last embrace of the Mother welcome you home, Strelok Sedai. The word is a bit dimmer without you in it.

I've only met Steve twice, once at each of the JordanCons I attended. At JCon 5 in 2013, he was always walking between panel rooms, making sure that everything AV was ready to go. He was quick to solve problems, and was always willing to help. At Jcon 10 last year, his health had deteriorated, but he was still doing everything that he could to make sure that everything was running smoothly. I will always remember him being made a Blademaster, simply because you could see how much that meant to him. His JordanCon family meant the world, and they will always love him.

Strelok guested with the Red Ajah in November, and he was a fellow mentee of Brandon. We showed each other our Star Wars costumes. I didn't get to know him, but he seemed like a cool guy.

May you shelter in the palm of the Creator's hand, Stelok Sedai, and may the last embrace of the mother welcome you home.

I first met Steve back in...2003, I think. My own WoT site had closed and I was looking for a new place to role-play. He was a member of Silklantern when I decided to rejoin there. Many of the people I had known were gone, but he was immediately welcoming of me even though we hadn't met when I'd been there previously. He was a staple in the chat room and always did his best to make everyone feel welcome. When that site shut down a couple of years later when the owners wanted out, he immediately sprang into action and found us a new domain and someone who could code us a nice looking site. We named it Portal Stones, built out a new community, and even created a separate world to RP in for when we got bored with WoT.

I met Steve in person in 2009. I was, at that time, still pretty heavily into my church, and JordanCon that year was on Pascha. I didn't feel right about being at a convention that weekend, but when I found out he and another PS member were attending, I jumped at the chance to come up and visit for lunch. We spent a few hours talking and getting past that awkwardness you get sometimes when you finally meet people in real life that you've been talking to for years online (maybe that's just me). When I attended my first JCon three years ago, we bumped into each other again and had some good long talks. We also went on a couple hour scavenger hunt to find the Companion, which had come out not too long before that iirc, because he wanted to get a copy for Brandon to sign. Five book stores later, we managed to find it finally. I looked forward to seeing him each year I made it there. This year is just not going to be the same without him there.

But if it hadn't been for him, I might've dropped out of this fandom years ago. I will always be grateful to him for his welcome spirit and his passion for these books, and for being a good friend for a time that simply was not long enough.

I have struggled with this all day. Despite having the opportunity to Mentor Steve, it feels small and short in comparison to so many others who got to know him well. So I know him through others and how they have spoken so highly of him. His light has touched me through the light he has inspired in others, so even with that little time I am thankful for it.

He was a great man, who showed such depth and love for all the world piled upon him. I am grateful to have known him, and though I selfishly wish there had been more time. Tai'shar Stormhorn, Aes Sedai of the White Tower.

I never did meet him and we only interacted a few times, but his intro post here was inspirational, and inspiration is one of those things we find ourselves forgetting to look for at times. Prayers ascending for his family.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let Light perpetual shine upon him. Memory eternal, Strelok Sedai!

2019 seems to be strong in sad news... :(
I didn't know Strelok and can't remember him from the forum, but to all the ones who knew him.... Keep him in your heart!

[Yesterday, I met some friends and we all met at the house of a couple. In the same house, there live the parents of him.
We all stayed long into the night.... had a good time.

This morning there was news... His dad, died while sleeping.... :(]

Strelok and I knew each other in passing from Jordancon.... I eventually made the jump and friended him on Facebook and started chatting. Over the past nine years it's been a little here and a little there... and then more when his cancer came back. When he confided enough that I knew he was terminal, I offered to be the contact between his parents, Jordancon, Facebook ect. His mother and I have emailed through all of this and I wish I had half the strength that woman has had. It seemed like she and he were supporting me through my tears. Even this morning, she took the time to send me a beautiful Lent devotional... which of course had me crying again. I've tried to figure out why Strelok has touched me so deeply and I think that it's his beautiful heart and strength of his faith. Someone that's had nothing but pain since he was 3 years old and struggled so much in his life to be normal and be seen as normal when the world would instantly shrink from him... He was an amazing man and passing at 39 was just too damn soon.

He had made the request to be able to ride in a race car in the last month of his life. I wasn't able to make that happen because of the weather and surfaces at his local track... but I sure hope he's getting hugs from RJ that are bone crushing and that both of them are racing in RJ's Porsche up there. In my version of Heaven... that's definitely happening.

Such good friends like you were for Sterlok are very important and that can be very hard to go through all the hard times...

One of my long year online friends got very ill in January and I started to send emails with his father a short while ago...

It takes an incredible man to have these words written about them. We could all hope to leave such an impact.

My condolences to his family and friends...I didn’t know him, but it’s obvious from the words of those who did that he was a wonderful spirit and will be greatly missed.

This was news I was expecting in a way, but it's terribly sad and lonely. To many good people are passing away. Never met him , but as online goes people make an impression.

This has been a painful year for our community indeed.. :(

I'd only met Steve once, at the only J*Con I've had the chance to attend- but he was friendly and welcoming, and from everything I've read of him from those that knew him better, a truly wonderful person. May the Embrace of the Mother welcome him home- he has plenty of good people to welcome him wherever he's gone.
