Hi all!

I've been without a reliable way to access this in a satisfactory manner for quite a while, but I should be back now! I'm super excited about the show and ready to start another read through as soon as I finish my current trilogy I'm reading.

Some exciting stuff-

I've been working with kids with autism for a while now, and it's super satisfying.

My friends bought a house and we all live together now, including the new puppy!

actually I'm blanking on literally anything else interesting about my life right now but hey! I'll be around now so we'll see what I come up with!

Welcome back, Devonna. I'm new :welcome

What trilogy are you reading?

I'm doing a re-listen myself. Currently on The Fires of Heaven. It's slow going atm...

I feel that. Several WoT books are slow, but usually worth it!

I'm reading the Broken Earth series by N.K. Jemisin. It's... not a feel good series, but it is really good which is why I'm re-listening to it. There's parts of it that are in present tense and second person (aka 'you') which are both things that are really hard to pull off, but after the initial shock, it's very visceral and satisfying. I spent the first hour or so just crying though because it's super visceral and also devastating. Trigger warnings abound.

One of the things I really love is how delicately the different timelines are woven together, and the problematic aspects are very much addressed. It's also really interesting how they play with race, with a PoC focus that doesn't feel forced or even obvious even as it challenges a white-as-default bias that is common.

Anyways..... I guess I'm just saying I like it a lot, ha. If anyone is interested, hit me up and I'll try and list off triggering content because it's intense.

That sounds interesting. I've heard the title before, but knew absolutely nothing about it. I'll check it out! No trigger warnings needed for me. I'm usually not a fan of present tense, but I get used to most things as I listen :)

oh the Broken Earth trilogy. I gotta say, I liked the concept very much, but the execution was not for me. Also the ending was abit.... not satisfying for me

I am sure there is a discussion thread about it in the book forums :D
