Zanus, Mat is an amazing character and I deeply enjoy his antics too. I started reading the series last year in June and am in the last book. I find the best part of being a member here is that the story never really has to end. So glad to have you here and look forward to reading more about what you enjoy in the future books. Tai 'shar Manetherain!

Mat is a very funny and interesting character, to me his story picked up when: (TGH spoilers+)
He was in the White Tower and beat Gawyn and Galad with the quarterstaff. His storyline with the Aelfinn and Eelfinn was very interesting as well.
I don't know whether this is just me, but originally Mat used to annoy me in EotW. (EotW spoilers)
I thought he was too childish and the fact that he even picked up an object from Shadar Logoth when warned not to really annoyed me....
Now, although still a joker he has matured very quickly, and is a lot more like-able to me.
Whilst I have started I may as well list other favourite scenes of mine... (Spoilers up to book 7)
  1. The scenes with Egwene in Falme as a damane, were so intense and nerve-wracking - that is one scene I really will enjoy on my reread.
  2. The scenes in the White Tower when Egwene and Elayne are novices and Nynaeve Accepted are so interesting, especially when told about the Black Ajah, I felt I was along in the hunt with them, and was never trusting of any Aes Sedai they spoke to.
  3. The scene when Moiraine comes back from Rhuidean (10 days later?...) and Lan runs up to her and carries her back in his arms, was very touching, as was when he saved Nynaeve.
  4. When Elayne, Nynaeve and co. are in the menagerie and Elayne tries to tell some of the people that she is the Daughter-Heir of Andor and all you hear is her screaming later on
  5. I don't like The Children of Light, but Pedron Niall was a really interesting character when you got to his POV parts. I was gobsmacked when the Seanchan invaded Amador (and later in the same book Ebou Dar), that chapter was exquisite.
They are some of the standout ones to me but of course I enjoy it all.

EDIT: Just thought of more additional scenes  (Spoilers TSR, FoH and LoC)
  1. When Elayne got drunk ending in Nynaeve "dunking" Elayne was hilarious, as was when Nynaeve got drunk when trying to overcome her block with Theodrin.
  2. Although not a good thing, when Birgitte got ripped out of Tel'aran'rhiod by Moghedien. Also when Nynaeve snapped the a'dam round Moghedien in Tel'aran'rhiod.
