My friend from college has been talking about the series for YEARS and I knew she went to JordanCon every year. Finally during lockdown, I decided to pick up Eye of the World and I. Was. HOOKED. Made my husband read it when I was done with it and he was hooked too! We tore through all the books like wildfire and when we got to the Last Battle, we paused, scheduled a date night with snacks and caffiene, and stayed up into the wee hours of the morning reading it together. We laughed. We cried. We went online to buy all the Wheel of Time things. It was love at first read :)
Okay, this is ADORABLE and I love it!!

The show's release and seeing others I follow on twitter talking about it is what got me interested. I kind of sat on the sidelines a bit just watching before finally going out to pick up a The Eye of the World and began reading last year while also binging the show. Now I'm almost halfway through book five!

My parents owned the books. :cheeseeni: I don't remember why I picked them up off the bookshelf, just that I did around age 12-13.

I was looking for a new book series to read after Lord of the Rings and the Mithgar books and found them at Hastings.

I really really do miss Hastings. :cryFor anyone that may not know that store, it was a bookstore, music store, board games and video/game store (and rentals) all in one. *wipes a tear* They had comics, magazines I couldn't find other places and cool merch too.

I kept getting New Spring and EOTW recommended to me on audible because I was listening to the whole Cosmere for a second time.

I tried reading it in college (because @JackieSedai loved the series) but didn't get past the third book. Then, when the show was coming out, she didn't have anyone to talk to about it so I thought I'd give it another shot. This time, I loved it!

My best friend in high school loved the books and recommended them to me while we were working as lifeguards. I devoured all of the books that were out at the time. She and I even did the First Sister ritual, though obviously without the One Power. (As an aside, that's the hardest I've ever been slapped. :you) Sadly she and I are no longer close, but my love for the series has never faded. I'll be forever grateful to her for recommending it to me. And I'm super grateful to @Fenya al'Caem for reading them so that I could talk to someone about them!!

I saw the show and realized it must be based on books. "Husband my birthday is coming up. Can you buy me the whole wheel of Time series in hardcover please?!" " Of course your Majesty."
I have spent the last several months reading said birthday present.

My college boyfriend recommended EotW to me when I spent the summer with him and his mom. I was immediately hooked, tore through the next four books, and had to pause on continuing to finish my last semester of college. The day after my last final, I picked up LoC and read it in about two days, and had CoS done before Christmas. Then began the waiting game...

I first learned of The Wheel of Time from my Aunt!! She adores the series and had me trying to read it for years before I finally gave in.

I spotted The Eye of the World at my local library after I graduated from high school 29 years ago. I tried it and was immediately hooked.

I was just lending some books in the library to keep up my English, always liked fantasy and it was one of the book series they had in.

Twenty years ago (WOW!) I found Eye of the World in the back seat of a friend's car; it looked well-loved so I announced that I was borrowing it. When I returned it, he asked if I wanted the second one. My response: There are MORE??!!!?! YES.

My sort-of boyfriend recommended them to me around 16, and I've been an on-again off-again fan since.

I actually have no recollection of when I first started reading WoT which is weird. I have this hazy memory of reading the first book probably in my late teens but something just didn't stick, then listening to the audiobook when I was 24ish as I was bored and decided to give it another try - then I became obsessed!

Saw EotW in the high school library in the mid-90s.
Found out it was an unfinished series, put it back on the shelf. :p

After Stephen King finished The Dark Tower (after almost dying beforehand),
I decided to go back and start it, even though it wasn't done yet.

So my sister was dating this really useless guy in college and I really couldn't stand him. He did, however, talk about this series non stop and so I got my sister the first book. She couldn't really get through the prologue so I inherited it and was obsessed. I ran to Walden books (does that date me?) to get the next books in the series and kept going back every week or so once I finished a book. You can imagine my dismay that when I finished CoT, i ran to Walden's and KoD wasn't out yet :cry2: Sadly, I completely forgot about the books while I finished college. I stumbled upon the Leigh Butler Tor.com re-read in 2010, which was absolutely hysterical, and finally read KoD and TGS while I waited for the last two to publish. That's the same year I found TV.net
