[Closed] Hiring: Tower Gatekeepers (x2)

Hello everyone!

First I want to thank Ilverin and Elania for their work as gatekeepers as both have made the decision to step down. Ilverin was in the position for almost 3 years, and Elania for 1 year. Both deserve some rest after they were kept hopping from all of you!

The details:

This is a Staff position within the Technology Department.

All applications are due by March 13, 2023.

Duties

• Navigate the XenForo backend to add and remove members from usergroups in XenForo.
• Approve or deny new user accounts
• Do so in a timely and efficient manner!

Requirements

• Must be a Senior Member in good standing with the Tower.
• Must have discretion as you will have access to information and the administrative part of the site which requires 2FA set up
• Must be able to dedicate 5-10 hours per week to this position, though the specific time needed will fluctuate week to week.
• Must be active, organized, and able to pay attention to little details.
• Must have good interpersonal skills as you will be working directly with our administration.
• Must stay in contact with the Wansho (and Director of Tech)
• Must have the computer skills necessary to do this job.

Now, this position may sound daunting, but it is not a difficult role and surprisingly very little tech know-how is needed (if you can navigate these boards like a pro, then you would be fine!). The biggest things are the ability to pay attention to small details, availability, and discretion.

I'll be posting notes from the Job Fair in a bit, but for anyone who is curious but intimidated by the idea of this job. It doesn't require anything crazy like being able to code. It does require regular checking of the forums, but that 5-10 hours is probably done in 5-10 minute (or less) sessions.

Not at the moment, we tend to hire for those based on projects. When we have a project such as that (or if someone thinks of a fabulous idea we could run with!), I would hire at that point. (and my coding skills are very rusty, so believe me, I would hire!)

We just have no need on a day-to-day basis (at this point) for coders.
