Ahead of the release of the New and Approved Tarvalon.net Blog we are hiring staff! The new vision for the Blog is a little different from the Tar Valon Times of the past, and therefore our staff and the way we collect articles will be operating differently.

First off, anyone and everyone can submit content to be posted on the blog, so what we are looking for in staff is a little different.

We need people with ideas and a passion to help put our community back on the Wheel of Time map! We will be working closely with Social Media and the rest of the Marketing team to increase our reach in the WoT world, and make some entertaining content for our current community.

We are looking for editors, SEO experts, idea people, writers, artists, and everything in between. Even if you just have a slight idea of what you would like to see in the BLOG, please apply! This is going to be a hugely collaborative team. If you have ideas, we want them. No idea is too big or too small.

The new Blog (still workshopping the name, may stay TVT) will be largely an external matter, focusing less on our community and more on Wheel of Time content (both book and show). We are attempting to get ahead of Season Two’s release so that we can be up and running and posting as things are released!

We won't just be focusing on the show though! While we are doing less community content, there will still be Community articles, such as event write ups, an article about the Robert Jordan Memorial Scholarship, and more!

Who can apply?
Anyone. The only requirement is to be a Citizen and have ideas. There is no time requirement or quota of articles/content written. Please do not apply if you are not planning to contribute or at least be active in our forum when you can. There will be a regular audit of this. We understand life is a thing, but some level of activity is required.

How to Apply
To apply for this position, please send an email with the subject “APPLICATION - TAR VALON TIMES STAFF - YOUR NAME” to tarvalonblogeditor@gmail.com, marketing@tarvalon.net and keeper@tarvalon.net detailing your interest in the team, any ideas you have for the TarValon Times and why you would be a good fit.

It is an exciting time in Marketing, so come join the fun. Let your voice be heard and help make our Blog as amazing as it can be!

Applications are due November 25, 2022.

do I understand correctly that it will only have WOT content? (with a high focus on the show)?

No. Not just WOT content. A high focus on it, but not just.

The main thing we are removing is our community based content. Like the monthly recaps and member spotlights.

Some of us were working toward our Staff and Reporter merits. How does this affect that system if anyone can write an article without actually having to be on staff?

Are we still trying to get people interested in our community at all? Or is it simply to hype the show? If we get rid of all of our unique community content, how are we going to get people interested in us for more than just show news? What happens when there isn't show stuff to talk about?

The blog isn't just show things. It will have a larger focus on WoT content, but is not solely going to be WoT content.

A large portion of our content before was Community based, like monthly recaps, member spotlights...that type of thing. We will still be highlighting Outreach activities, Events, and other things of that nature. But just at a scaled-back nature. More general content that appeals to everyone, less specialized community content that only we care about.

Also, if you (everyone you not just Adina you  ) have ideas on things I encourage you to apply. I am trying to cultivate a large collaborative team, not just my word is law. And while we have a bare-bones idea of what we will and will not be doing, a lot of it is going to be built by my incoming team.

This is the chance everyone has been asking for to have their voices heard. SO APPLY. :look: There are also no longer going to be quotas and deadlines, so time is not as much of a factor in the past.

Also if any of you have concerns and don't want to apply and for some reason don't want to message me, we can make a thread in Feedback.

I wanted to check before I posted. But TVT Staff don't have their time counted towards a Staff merit (this had never been the case). However anyone (whether they are staff or not) have their articles counted towards Reporter Merits. In the past the Times have had "Guest" writers, so anyone not on staff, this would be a similar thing.

Edit to add. I also edited the main post to include more info on the fact that the Blog will not just be Wheel of time Content, but will include some community content.
