Due to real life responsibilities, Kerna can no longer serve as Director. We are now looking for a new Director of the department. We thank Kerna for all her work over the past few years

Overview
  • The Director of Research and Records is an Executive position and as such will have all responsibilities inherent in that position, such as working with other Directors and Officers, providing counsel to other Executives when asked, and managing the Department of Research and Records. It is responsible for handling the research needs of our community to make us one of the top go-to websites for Wheel of Time research and for maintaining our community records. The Director of Research and Records reports to the Archvist and will be expected to be in regular communication regarding the development of the library and ensuring the Merits, Membership Manual and histories are fully integrated with each other.
  • The Director is not necessarily expected to write articles, but should be willing to find ways to increase community involvement with the Wiki and to ensure our Wheel of Time information is the best it can be. With the impending release of the Companion, they will also be responsible for taking appropriate information from this book to supplement our library, while ensuring we respect the format of the Companion and are careful not to take too much.
  • Will provide counsel to the other Executives as needed.
  • Will handle any HR issues for the Department, including any staff/administrator reviews, selecting and replacing any staff/administrators, complaints, reading and responding to monthly and quarterly reports, etc.
  • Is responsible for keeping Officers updated on all projects and issues in the.
  • Administrates articles, from assigning articles to keeping track of their progress to nudging people who have articles assigned but not completed to editing articles to entering articles into our Wiki. Anything and everything to do with articles, you should be prepared to do.
  • Fills in gaps in articles as necessary
  • Creates new user IDs when requested
  • Comes up with new and innovative ideas for articles
  • Organizes the Library into an easily searchable database via the Wiki and develops new ways of finding material within the library
  • Ensures that the Ajah and Company pages are adhering to TarValon.Net community standards
  • Ensures that all pages, images and categories in the library are properly categorized and that broken an double redirects are fixed
  • Moderates the Library forums, including the Classrooms, and keeping forums spoiler free.
  • Helps the Tower Historians handle the Tower histories

  • Must currently be a Senior Member with at least one year good standing as a Senior Member.
  • Must currently be able to dedicate at least one year to this position. We understand that things come up and sometimes it's not possible, but if you don't think you will be able to fulfill the duties of this position for at least a year, please seriously consider whether or not you should apply.
  • Time commitments vary. Must be willing and able to work 10-20 hours a week on this position.
  • Must be diplomatic and discreet.

My primary worry would simply be the time investment necessary.

10-20 hours is a part time job >.>

A worthwhile one, to be sure, though.

That's it for me, too. I seriously considered applying, as it sounded like even a Novice would be welcomed. The job is everything I'm good at and love. There's just no way I can find ten to twenty hours a week of spare time.

Must currently be a Senior Member with at least one year good standing as a Senior Member.
It does list Senior Member as a requirement. I believe most directors+ have to be because of the areas they have access to.

I was made director when I was still not a senior member. I believe the rule is that for non-super user positions such as this one you can be a director if you have special skills or experience that is seen as overpowering in that area. An example would be hiring a social worker for the Director of Community Outreach.
