Lireina ni Dormerus t'al`Bearach
Aes Sedai
Far and away the least favorite part of my responsibilities here is having to say goodbye to members of my team. Alas, the RL monster is relentless in its pursuits, and Kelgan has become its latest victim after having served for nearly 4.5 years as our Director of Mods and Ops. He has been a pleasure to work with, and will be greatly missed in the Admin forums.
Which means we're looking for a new tribu- err, Director of Mods and Ops to take the helm- here's the job description:
Overview:
This position is an Executive position and as such will work closely with the Keeper and Amyrlin. Because of the nature of this position, this Director will also work closely with the Director of Membership to enact bans in chat or on the forums if required. This Director will handle all issues that pop up with our chat ops and the appropriate forum mods.
Requirements:
--must be a Senior Member with one year good standing
--must be willing and able to spend at least 15 hours a week handling Departmental issues. Every three months around the full moon, this may be closer to 25.
--must have chat operator experience or willingness to learn, and must have Xenforo forum moderator experience or willingness to learn. You must have experience with at least one of these. (vBulletin experience and Discord moderation experience is a plus but not required)
--must be extremely organized, especially with regards to hiring and placement of Mods and Ops to help avoid potential burnout.
--must be able to employ tact and diplomacy, even with people you don't necessarily like or respect
--must be a self-starter
--be available for quarterly Admin meetings
Duties:
--handle hiring, replacing, and training new chat ops and forum mods
--will be second in line for all issues that pop up in community moderation (first in line is op/mod, second is Director, third is Keeper).
--will make decisions as to appropriateness of consequences for actions that occur in forums or in chat (with advisement from Director of Membership, Keeper, and Amyrlin) in a timely manner
--will enact temporary bans to forums (particularly CE) and chat if required
--will keep records of all issues that require attention at the Admin level
--will keep track of all operators, particularly with regards to time availability
--serve as sounding board for Amyrlin and Keeper as an Executive
--work with other Directors, particularly the Director of Community Outreach, for forum and chat events, and particularly the Director of Membership for coordination of actions that pass from Department of Moderators to Membership
--will handle any complaints about how issues have been handled by ops/mods
Please send your applications to amyrlin@tarvalon.net and keeper@tarvalon.net with the subject "APPLICATION - DIRECTOR OF MODERATORS - YOURNAME HERE" by February 21st, 2018. In your application, be sure to explain why you feel you would be best for the position and what you think you can bring to it, as well as what you think your general moderating style would be. Also, please discuss what you think of our current level of moderation and any changes you think should be put into place.
Best of luck to our applicants!
