The Department of Marketing is now hiring for all sorts of positions! First up is the Social Marketing Team! The Social Marketing Team (SMT) is responsible for marketing TarValon.Net to non-members (i.e. external marketing) through social media and other venues. The SMT will work with other staff on the site as needed, including the Graphics Development Team, the Department of Events and Conferences, and the Department of Community Outreach. This is a non-rotating staff position, and anyone who serves is eligible for a Staff Merit. You will report directly to the Social Marketing Manager. Qualifications: Must have been a member of TarValon.Net for at least 6 months. Open to any rank; citizen or above. Have an active desire to participate and attend social events, both Tower sanctioned and other (i.e.. DragonCon, JordanCon). Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. We are looking for active members that are willing to make a contribution to helping Tar Valon grow. We are particularly looking for help with Twitter and Facebook. If you have experience with other platforms that you think we should start out on or revive, please let me know. Next comes Graphics Development Team! The Graphics Development Team are staff positions within the Department of Marketing. The Graphics team is responsible for all visual assets used on or in conjunction with TarValon.Net. These may include anything from logos, banners, icons, and Web work, to printed material, advertisements, interactive Flash or Web work, and illustrations; used in an official capacity by TarValon.Net. The Graphics Development Team is a group of people with a wide variety of visual/graphic design skills. This position is non-rotating. Those who join the Graphics Development Team are eligible for the Pro Bono Merit. Once Pro Bono gold is achieved, the member is eligible for the Staff Merit. The GDT currently reports directly to the Director of Marketing. Must own graphics editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, Corel Painter or Draw, Paint Shop Pro, or equivalent. Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment, and be able to give and receive constructive criticism from other team members. Must be able to work with a deadline. Must have been a member of TarValon.net for at least 6 months. Applicants may be of any rank. Must be experienced in any or all of the following areas: graphic design, web design, interactive design, typography, illustration, or visual arts. All applicants are asked to submit a portfolio of work with their application, either in the form of a personal website, CoroFlot site, a Photobucket album, a DeviantArt account, or equivalent. The portfolio must include at least ten examples of visual work in your area of specialty. Skills in any of the following areas are a plus: HTML/CSS or other web coding languages, ActionScript and Adobe Flash. The work load for the GDT is dependent on what is needed at the time, but more artists means more flexibility in taking on projects. Please also be willing to give your fellow artists feedback and accept feedback in return. Finally, The Tar Valon Times! This is a staff position within the Department of Marketing. Staff members create content for the Tar Valon Times. Said content can come in a variety of different media, such as articles, regular columns, or art, limited only by their own creativity and the rules and regulations of TarValon.Net. This is a non-rotating staff position. eligible for the Reporter Merit, which is based on the number of articles you write. You will report directly to the Tar Valon Times Editor. Actively search for and share ideas that will be interesting and informative for TarValon.Net members. Articles can cover topics from the Wheel of Time, the community, reviews, or anything random you can think up, as long as it would be interesting to the membership in general. Unconventional ideas are wonderful! Contribute a minimum of 3 pieces of content during your term, or maintain a regular column for the duration. Adhere to set deadlines, and communicate with the Editor if something occurs to prevent publication of your content. Communicate regularly with the Editor regarding your work, her work, and anything that comes up in the course of your job. Facility with your chosen medium is a must; for example, if you write, you need to be able to do so clearly in English. Creative flair and a joy for writing and/or creating art are definitely awesome additions. Experience with writing and/or creating art is a definite plus but not required. Ability to dedicate the necessary time to complete your contributions.
