I'm Carina, you can call me Cari, I guess? I'm new to the name, so we'll see what sticks. I found this site by googling "how to become an aes sedai in real life," lurked it for a few days, and decided to join! You all seem very friendly. I'm kind of awkward and anxious when it comes to socialization, so I'll probably lurk some more (besides this post) until I've gotten the feel for the tone of the site. :p (also, this site has cool emojis. My favorite is :tug)
I guess I'll answer some of the questions from the help thread?
My favorite character in WoT. Uhh. Um. *whispers* literally all the female characters but mostly Egwene I guess maybe? I don't know, I love everybody.
I'm a high school student, soon to be a college student! Hopefully I'll major in computer science, but I'm getting way ahead of myself here. I'm 14. ("Aren't you a bit young to be going to college?" Yes. Yes, I am! Hopefully I'm not too much younger than the majority of people on here, but I probably am.)
My favorite author other than RJ is Brandon Sanderson, of course. I read WoT first, liked Brandon's writing, and read all of his other books. Almost all, anyway. A name I go by elsewhere is Mist, inspired by Mistborn.
I guess that's it? *waves tentatively* hi

Hello, and welcome! It's always nice to see a new face around.

Mistborn is awesome! I made an OC for another fandom based around it (she wears a mistcoat from the Alloy of Law and her special ability is called Mistborn. Lel). I also totally understand the feel of picking a favorite character in WoT. It's hard. It took me AGES to figure out mine was Faile.

Great to meet you, Cari! I love most of the female characters in the books. Siuan was always my favorite, though Egwene and Verin come close behind. The exception to that is Elaida, who I want to be reborn over and over so she can die in a dumpster fire each life :lol :look

Anyway, glad you've joined us and I hope you decide to stick around :)

    Hello, and Welcome.

You've arrived at a most unusual time, Bel Tine.
Beware, there are things lurking unexpectedly that might scare you a wee bit.
Please don't frighten away, it's festival time and we're all out for a bit of... Fun, for lack of a better word.

    Wow, Just, Wow...

Nymala Sedai: I'm from Pennsylvania, but soon (in about a month) I'll be in Iceland for the summer! :D
Calahan (Sedai? I'm not sure if you're Aes Sedai or not, sorry): Yeah, Elaida... ugh. Siuan is great though. And... I really ship her with Moiraine, honestly. :look But thanks! :D
Arisaema Sedai: Thanks! Yeah, the Bel Tine forums look pretty fun: I'll probably participate in a few games soon. And try not to get eaten by wolves... :blink

Carina, you can shorten my name to Ari.
Pennsylvania is a beautiful state. I've twice considered settling there.
I almost bought a farm in Bucks County in the 80's and I spent a lot of time around Paoli in 2004-2007.

Hi Cari. :D Welcome! :welcome I'm glad you decided to say hello after lurking for a bit. ^^

You are young to be going to college, yes, but you are not the youngest person here at TV.Net, nor the only one heading to college at a younger-than-usual age. I'm sure as you start to post in various places and get to know people that some of our younger members will pop out and say hello. :D

How much of WoT have you read so far?

I'll tell you the same thing I posted in another introductory thread earlier today:

    Welcome to Tar Valon!

PA is a lovely state, I went to college in PA myself. Although I'm a bit of a Jersey girl.

Welcome to Tar Valon and the :tug club :p I am glad you decided to join us and we will be glad if you join our Bel Tine celebrations. Egwene is my favorite character too. I have never been to Iceland but I heard the nature there is absolutely unique. Hope you stick around and share your experience with the nosy people (like me :lol) If you need help with finding an avatar or you don't understand something about the site, feel free to message me, I am here to help.

    Hello, Carina! :welcome

You seem enthusiastic enough, I like that. :D It is quite admirable that you are tackling your education so fiercely already.

I have only recently read other Sanderson's works, and I am absolutely in love with the "Mistborn" trilogy. I've also read "The Alloy of Law" and am anxiously awaiting to get my [strike]clutches[/strike] hands on the rest of the Wax and Wayne series. I read "Legion", too, and am in the middle of "The Emperor's Soul". In just a few months, Sanderson's become one of my favourite authors.

Enough about me. :look Tell us more about you before we start asking questions. :lol

Once again, welcome to Tar Valon. Make yourself at home!

Cari (I'm lazy, I'm sticking with Cari), I'm very glad you decided to peek out to say hello!
I know how scary it can be to jump in, a lot of communities can be so jaded and clique-ey towards new people!
Far from it here. Everyone is welcoming, friendly and helpful. Don't hesitate to jump in anywhere you see something interesting, no one will mind :)

A very warm big Welcome to Tar Valon :D

Hi Carina! Welcome to Tar Valon. :D

I love that you found us through that search term. That's actually part of our founding story. :lol

Eleyan and Wendy were sitting around drinking Goldschlagger and started talking about WoT, and then one of them said to the other, "How do you become Aes Sedai?" and the other said, "Someone has to make you Aes Sedai" and so Wendy said, "Then I hereby make you Aes Sedai" and Eleyan said, "And as the first Aes Sedai, I hereby make you Aes Sedai."

There's slightly more process to it now. :lol

Ari Sedai: Ooh, yeah! I know where both of those places are :D
Maibella Sedai: I've read all of WoT and New Spring, but that was a while ago, so I'm kinda rereading right now. I'm on Lord of Chaos in the reread!
Roheryn Sedai: Cool! I'm going to college here too :D
    Nebka: Thanks!
Sailea Sedai: Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. :D
Luna Sedai: Thanks! Yeah, I still need to read Bands of Mourning... Shadows of Self was so great, though. The ending was terrible and sad but also amazing. So, you know, typical Sanderson. :p
Inana Sedai: Yeah, it seems that way from what I've seen! Y'all seem like a wonderful community.
Mother (is that the correct form of address?): Thanks! I found that story and it seemed wonderful (and like something I might do). The whole thing here is amazing, and I am harboring hopes of becoming a real Aes Sedai someday...

I'm halfway through Shadows of Self. I feel like I should be concerned now. :look

(Also, Sea works just fine in place of Chalisea. :) )

Yeah... Maybe you should be concerned :lol It's really good, though. Like, so good.
