Sooo....thanks to another thread, I think a bunch of us are wanting to do a reread.

I don't think we decided on a pace yet...or pretty much anything except that we want to reread :lol So...how shall we do this?

Also, given this is a clearly labeled re-read....maybe we can skip spoiler tags for ease of writing/reading?

I think foregoing spoiler tags is a good idea. :lol

I'm okay with it, even if I'm coming along for my first read. I've seen the movies, and if there's other spoilers..I've been warned. It's okay :D

Presumably all discussion will be about what we've read so far, so it shouldn't be an issue.

There are spoilers and there are spoilers.

In any given chapter we are all reading, there should be no need for spoiler alerts. What about JKRs foreshadowing? For example (spoiler) Hagrid says her borrowed the motor bike from young Sirius Black, who we don't encounter until book 3! Everytime through I seem to find something, but, I've been through these books enough that this is not a problem for me.

That's what I mean by ditching the spoiler tags- my commentary is likely to refer to future events.

I also don't want to be an ass to new readers :lol so I'll probably tag anyway.

    :hug

I'll probably use a little discretion, too. I'm excited to be able to discuss the books while reading them. ^^

So as far as pace goes...having assigned reading for each day might be a bit much, and once a week a bit sparse (in my opinion) But what about twice a week? For Instance, Monday-Wednesday read 5 chapters, and Thursday-Sunday read the next 5. Just an example. Not sure how long the chapters are.

I know some people wanted a slower pace.
I'm willing to work with that, but I'll admit I need a... reference point... for what that means for them.

For me a slow pace is "i didn't read it in a single sitting," ya know?

Also my phone totally slaughtered my last post. Fixed. :p

Reading has been a challenge for me lately, but Harry Potter has always been an exception. ^^ I think I can do that, at least in the first few books.

I think twice a week is a good interval, although I think some people might find it easier to read both sections all at once on a weekend or something. But that works to keep pace.
For me, slow would be roughly a chapter a day, so for a twice weekly benchmark, maybe 4 chapters?

I did a project on Tumblr where I read a chapter a day and made a sparse comment each day. (The Perspicuous Potterphile) I found there are 199 chapters including he Epilogue. Some chapters are quite short, others are three times as long as they should be. I found 15 to 45 minutes a day to read each one.

That in mind, once a week would give time for deeper comment, twice weekly would keep the pace moving. I managed the daily only because I started one week ahead and ended 9 days ahead of the postings.

Another group I had joined tried to do 5 to 6 chapters a week, but .....

What do we have in mid for postings and comments? Summaries? Foreshadowings? Insights? Plot holes? Parallels/similarities to WoT and other series? Squeeing?

Another group I'm with set out five or six chapters a week for 44 weeks. I can pull their reading list from their spreadsheet if anyone wants.

I think 5 chapters a week might be the best pace for me. I don't want to send myself into an anxious frenzy, not meaning to. :look

But I also don't want to slow everyone down.

I agree with the "roughly a chapter a day" pace but limit of 5 chapters per week... I don't always get a chance to read every day but could fit in 5 per week...
