Thank you all. Quite the friendly welcome.

Great to meet you, al'Kosh! Or do you prefer just Kosh? Are you a Babylon 5 fan by chance? And, because I'm nosy, which graphic novels do you enjoy? I'm a big Hellblazer fan, but I've also been known to enjoy Sandman, American Vampire, Locke and Key, and (of course) a variety of Batman titles.

If you have any questions or anything and/or you need a break from Kyla, feel free to holler! ;)

:welcome

Kosh is fine, I'm glad someone noticed where I yoinked it from. Haven't watched it in YEARS. Have you seen the newish Lost Tales movie? I keep meaning to.

I like Sandman, Hellblazer, Fables, and a ton more. I read most of the various DC and Marvel superhero titles, though I'm pretty grumpy at all the crossover big events forcing me to READ ALL THE BOOKS.

Right now, Saga and Rat Queens are my two current loves.

:eek Another Rothfuss fan!! :joy
Welcome :D It's my first time listening to the WoT audiobooks as well and I love them, I can't believe I didn't get into audiobooks before. Have you listened to the audiobooks for Kingkiller Chronicles? Nick Podehl is absolutely amazing :D
Looking forward to seeing you around :D

I haven't listened to them. I've never been big on audiobooks before now. In the car, I used to space out and miss a ton, while at home I'd end up falling asleep. I drive a ridiculous amount to grad school, which has given me a lot more time. Since the drive is mostly flat corn fields, I find I can keep up a lot better. I'll definitely give other narrators a shot after I finish WoT.

Greetings and welcome al'Kosh :) I guess part of WoT's intrigue is the discussion it generates. I share some of your "frustrations." But we have closure despite the passing of the author and exceptional circumstances and complications of a true epic.

Yeah, we're lucky in that he left a good framework for his wife, Doherty, and Sanderson to finish. I love Sanderson, so I'm eager to get to them.

Welcome from a former neighbor! Hope to meet you sometime when I'm back visiting the area. :) (If I didn't already kinda sorta meet you the day I met Kyla at the library?)

Do you listen to the Comic Nerds Unite podcast? Sounds like it would be right up your alley and it's by some local (to you) buddies.

Oh good, it's not just me. :giggle

I don't think so. At least, I don't recall being introduced to anyone. Totally possible I was there, though. As the only man in the building, I stand out a bit.

I'll have to check out the podcast. I've never been super into podcasts for the same reasons I was never really into audiobooks until recently. I owe them another shot.

A dangerous proposition to accept anything from a strange Aes Sedai. Glad you accepted the invitation though. ;)

You sound like you'll fit in here terrifically and I look forward to hearing what you think of the end of the series, the pace most certainly picks up.

Welcome and well met. Should you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. :)

Welcome! Do you have a specific Lego preference (architecture, star wars, original creations, etc) or do you like it all? Did you see that one Brandon Sanderson shared a while back of the chasms?

I love it all really, though I feel like Ninjago, Chima, and the new Nexus Knights to are too play focused and not enough neat features or clever uses of parts. That said, I would have loved them so much when I was nine. I love collecting the minifig series, though I'm way behind on them. I don't really have much money to be buying Lego at all lately. Sadface.

Is this the Sanderson thing you saw?

Totally understand about the slow pace frustrations, it does pick back up so hang in there! I have been in love with Legos since I was little - I tell my kids when they leave home they can only take theirs, mine stay with me  we have half of their play room as a dedicated Lego area that takes up an entire wall and part of the floor. I think I am more intrigued with what you can make now than I was as a kid.

A whole half of a room sounds awesome. As I reorganize my basement, it may become part library, gym, & play area instead of the mostly unused storage space it is now. I definitely still have most if not all of my Lego from when I was a kiddo.

I'm having a hard time figuring out Lego for my daughter. She's three, so just a tad too young for regular Lego, but old enough to see my stuff and want to play with it. She's good about not putting things in her mouth, but I fret that things will end up destroyed or lost. The Lego Duplo is just not cutting it for her anymore. I might see about getting her some of the Disney princess or Elves Lego sets for her birthday in September.

:welcome

I'm in IL as well.

It is a pretty ok place to be. I'm down in central IL, though I'm in the Chicago area every week for grad school.

Welcome to Tar Valon, al'Kosh!

I'm Amarande Gaidin of Dai M'Hael, Outreach Activities Coordinator, Warder to the Mayor, and a member of our awesome Welcoming Committee! Glad to see you here, yay for more Illinois folk! :D

Losing little Lego pieces is inevitable, I'm sure I lost plenty as a lad myself :look: Under things, snooked up in the vacuum cleaner, probably some of them in the mini black hole that my childhood home appeared to contain somewhere :look:

There's always Minecraft, if you're worried about piece sizes though ... or about the lawyers you may need to retain related to a Lego habit, such as personal injury and probably bankruptcy

If you have any questions or would like to chat, go ahead and send me a visitor message :)

Bankruptcy would certainly be a possibility with a serious Lego habit, ha. I have to stay out of Toys R Us since the employees there don't give any hassle to people feeling up the mining blind bags. Otherwise, I'd probably have spent way more than I already have. :-p Target folks look at you weird as you sit and go through them.

That is quite a long list of titles you have!

Lego pieces are easy to find. Just walk around the house barefoot! ;)

al'Kosh, have you ever been to any of the dedicated Lego stores? I had the chance to go to the one at Downtown Disney earlier this year, and was glorious.

Yeah, there are three in the Chicago area. They're neat to visit! I'd love to do builds on the scale of their big mall displays.
