How were you all affected by the events of the last book? I've waited a 11 years for this book and I'm sure there are members out there who have waited much longer. I want to know and discuss your thoughts on aMoL.

When I finished reading the last book (no lie I did not sleep until I finished the book, 29 hours) I was pleased. I lay the book on my nightstand and rolled over and had the most restful sleep of my life. Everything was not as it should be but I think WoT ended splendidly. I hated the deaths of the Lightsiders, I delighted in the defeats of the Shadow, I could not put this book down for anything. I was entranced. There are some key issues that were left unanswered that I will discuss at a later time in a different post. For now I just want to get a general feeling from my fellow members.

I finished it in a couple of days but I'm still in shock. I'm doing a proper reread before I make any judgments, and it will likely take that long before I have feelings about it...

I must say that I was in shock too. I re-read and re-read but it wouldn't change the outcome. I was only displeased with the death of Egwene. the rest of the book, IMO Sorcha Sedai, was phenomenal!

As I read AMOL before finishing TGS & TOM(I had read only summaries) I have to say I was sad about the deaths of some characters! But I know they were needed because it was a battle and there are always deaths from both sides...Still Egwene's death.. :( and Siuan, why did she had to die???:cry One of the things I wanted to know was Moiraine's two other questions & answers to the Aelfinn and Eelfinn.I hope we get our answer in the Encyclopedia!
And now I'm sad again because I remembered that AMOL is the last actual book....There will be no more :cry

Now that I'm thinking of it, I believe Egwene's death was foreshadowed!Just count the times it had been speculated that she would have become the longest serving Amyrlin Seat of all time.

I expected some of the five main to die but in the very end only Egwene did...Rand has another body so it's not really death. What I wonder if Rand is going to tell his closest friends that he's alive!

If he didn't tell Mat I would understand, but he should tell Nyneave, Perrin, and possibly Tam. Tam already said his goodbye tho so if Rand let him be I think that would be humane. Mat's connection to the Seanchan would be too risky to announce the Dragon still lives

I'm just sorry I can't lay my eyes on those potential trigger novels, my Randland novel reading days (from a fresh perspective anyway) are over. And why not tell Mat that he's still alive. Now that he's got Morindin's face, the girls won't recognise him when he helps Mat let the badger off on the green

After 12 books of no deaths of the main characters, the last book really hit me. And deaths of Siuan and Gareth were really unexpected, especially after Min's vision.
I would also really like to see the scene of Rand telling his friends he is alive, the reactions would be priceless!

A Memory of Light was the only possible ending for the Wheel of Time series.
It took me nine hours to finish a Memory of Light @ 100 pages an hour(ish). I felt genuine dispair at losing the character of Egwene... but then... the 'penny' began to drop, and i don't mind saying that 'it' levelled me.

Literally just got done with the whole series.

the ending was incredible, the whole last book filled with tension. i love the feeling that theres still so much to tell…

but yes a lot of the deaths were a shocker

Birgitte's death was a out loud "holy shit" moment for me
Egwene's was such a surprise, i blame Gawyn's impulsive kiddy mind
HURIN tho! whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Garteth and Suin :(
hopper for the second time
and of course bela the horse, the true hero of all the horses in the story

When I finished the book I ended up throwing it on the floor. It kinda ticked me off. There are way too many loose ends. :(

Finished last night at 2:30am. I'm in shock, and tears. It was such a great ride, but such a sudden ending.

I screamed a few times: Gawyn, Egwene, Bela....

For some reason, I'm stuck on the question - what is Rand going to call himself now?

I'd like to think that Rand will travel the world, be free for a while without worries and then eventually tell his friends. It's not like he could keep it secret if he keeps his contact with the 3. Eventually someone will realizes that the girls are sharing the same lover... again!

I was pretty pissed about the loss of Eqwene, but then, I'm sure that's how I am supposed to feel. No one wants their beloved characters to die. What a way to go out though, BAM! She rode through her grief to the defeat of the Shadow! SO epic.

I also hope there will be some spin-off novels. I would really like to see more prequels showing Siuan's rise to power, Moiraine and Lan's developing friendship, and Tam's exploits leading up to Rand's birth and upbringing.

I am sad the series is over but I am happy with the way it ended.
Tying all the side stories off would take another few books... So there are still questions but I knew there would be. I would be upset if everything was tied with a perfect bow because that is not how the world works.

I finished the book about 3 days after it came out. I really liked some parts like when Pevara and Androl bond each other and rescue the Black Tower. But the character death saddened me. Especially Egwene and Gawyn. :cry
