Forum Reorganization (coming the weekend of August 6th!)

Everyone,

This is your heads up that the forum structure will be reorganized sometime the weekend of August 6th! The intent behind this reorganization is to cluster like forums together in a more cohesive way. These changes have been shared, discussed, and in some cases modified based on feedback from Exec and the community via the Community Feedback forum. Public discussion started May 24, 2022 in this thread. There will be no change to the Within the Tower and Administrative sections. These changes do not impact forum access; you should continue to see what you see now, just in a different configuration.

The TarValon.Net Community section will now house all news, information, events, and philanthropic activity. The City of Tar Valon is being repurposed as our main come-get-to-know-everyone, interaction-among-members hub. The Library is mostly staying the same, but with a specific WoT focus; non-WoT areas there are being moved to the City.

There is no proposed change for access or moderation of the forums. As things stand, the Costume Team is over that forum, correct? I think it will stay that way for the time being.

I ( &/tech) will be breaking re-organizing things starting soon.
Some forums may have inherited permissions that may need to be adjusted after we get everything moved.
We will post here when done and if you still have issues with seeing (or not seeing) things you should/shouldn't, then you can respond and let us know of outstanding permission clean up issues at that point.

With the restructure, visitors only have access to TarValon.Net Community and The Library. Is this a feature or a bug? I feel like them not having access to the Discussion Halls is a drawback, and possibly General, Frivolous Fun, and Forum Games as well. I don't remember what all they had access to before, but I know that Discussion Halls and Forum Games were available.

We based permissions off of this document in the library, which does not state visitors gaining access to the Discussion Halls, Frivolous Fun, General, and Forum Games. All of those areas are seen by the Registered Users group -- so anyone who makes an account can see those areas.

I guess I used the wrong term, I meant registered user rather than visitor. @Aeric Kill-Feather can't see those areas which is what caused me to bring it up.
