Is there a way to keep the emoticon command just for the emoticons? I tried to write a word in the language I use at work, only here on the forums, and we use a lot of : to indicate glotteral stops (like the - in "uh-oh"). It's a bit frustrating not being able to describe something in that language if the forum commands can't distinguish between the normal blushing command o) and a real word like Ga'da:gesge: o' (which is their name for the region I work in). There shouldn't be an extra space in that word, but if I write it normally, this is what happens: Ga'da:gesge'.

:\ Can this be fixed, or is the : o command something that will always do that, even in the middle of a perfectly valid word?

The forum software doesn't check words or anything, it just replaces any smiley codes it sees with the appropriate image.

When making a post, if you go to advanced mode, under the post beside "Miscellaneous options" there's a setting called "Disable smilies in text". Check that and it will disable smilies for the entire post.

I started a thread in the Home and Health forum yesterday, entitled "Strangest Nickname You've Ever Been Called?", and now I can't open it. Instead of the usual TV symbol there's an envelope with arrows on it, and it says "moved" in front of the thread title. Where has it been moved to and how can I access it?

I have a question...
Now that I have access to the places I guest and have the new forums, the large Icon that is usually colored when a new post is made does not ever change from grey... The sub-forum one does but that is very hard to see... is this something I need to change in my settings or is there a glitch somewhere?

I'm glad I checked this, because I have the opposite "problem" - the large icons stay coloured even though the small ones are gray. I don't really mind it, I'd just like to know why it's happening.

Subforums you cant see can be marked unread thus marking the main forum as having unread posts.

You can double click the main forums icon to mark read. (if you hover over the icon there is a tool tip)

In my case that large icon never "lights up" in just one forum...

Mendo, cheers for the tip! I have been using it regularly. However, I now have exactly one forum where I double clicked it at one point (Within the Tower) and it now never lights up, even if there are new posts in Brown or any other forum I can see. That is the only forum I have experienced the issue with.
