It's that time of year again when we have our Fall Executive Meeting. Four times a year, the Directors and Officers meet via some kind of voice chat to discuss ongoing issues, new projects, or problems in the community, as well as just to catch up. These meetings are valuable to our Exec team, as it brings together all of us and allows us to connect between departments. Two of our meetings, the Spring and Fall, have agendas released to the community, and then the notes from those meetings are also released. These are the meetings where we tend to discuss the bigger, more sweeping changes to our community.

Our meeting will take place on September 17. If you have any questions or comments you'd like to add to the conversation, you may email the appropriate person. If you don't know who the appropriate person is, you may email officers@tarvalon.net, and we'll ensure it gets to the right person.

Oh I really like the Religion & Spiritually section too! It would be nice to have a place to talk.

Question, and maybe this is part of the discussion, but would this be specifically for christianity and other *mainstream* religions only, or would others be permitted as well?

I'm pretty confident it would not be limited in that way.

Since we don't discriminate based on religion, I don't see a limit being placed on the religions discussed.

This was a topic proposed by a member, so the Exec team has not discussed it at all yet.

I think this is a great idea as well, and look forward to it being a possibility of discussion on the boards. I know that when I was first here I looked for a thread where it was being discussed and could not find anything.

Awesome. :) I didn't think it would be limited, but religion and spirituality are such a sensitive subject I figured I'd ask, just be safe. Thanks! :)

Atheism thread to? It is indeed sensitive and consideration into the current climate per religious and cultural status..
I would hold off..

I would say if athiesm is considered to be a religion it's welcome, or if its purpose is to discuss spirituality without a divine central authority that fits within the scope of the forum.
I would imagine it could be set up like CE, opt in and with a code of conduct. Bashing any religion would outright be against the spirit of the forum. It would be a place to discuss ideas, beliefs, ask questions about other's beliefs, learn about rituals and stories of other religions and talk about holidays and family traditions. In this world's climate we need this forum even more because talking about it is how we learn and understand other people's beliefs, and even if we don't share them it still helps us to understand each other a little more.

If we as a community can trust each other enough to talk about politics, I'm sure we can handle religion and spirituality ;)

Thank you to everyone who sent in a suggestion for a discussion topic! Our meeting starts shortly, and we'll be releasing the notes within a few weeks.

I see that point Alora. I didn't mean it to sound condescending or a lack of faith in those who wish to discuss it.

Of course moderation will ensure temperate conversation

Apologies! I was overly optimistic, and notes will not be released tomorrow. Turns out I can't work on them while I'm traveling without my laptop :look:, and also we have some weird forum stuff to work out so everyone has a chance to review their sections. I expect them to be published within a week, though!
