Has anyone else read Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi? I loved it so much that I ordered the second book in the series as soon as I finished the last page.

I just finished reading Katherine Addison's "The Goblin Emperor" and a friend recommended Children of Blood and Bone. I found his description of it intriguing: "A very similar plot and characters as Avatar the last airbender only it's all African mythologies and magic is very politically minded"
He also said the second book is even better than the first, because of world-building.

That's interesting! I've mostly seen it compared to Harry Potter, which I don't think quite fits, but I also found myself thinking of Avatar as I was reading it. Less from plot similarities than from a similar vibe of a group of young friends adventuring through a magical landscape and such.

Been on my list for a long time! I'll bump it up closer to the top.
