All my donation dollars go to Ronald McDonald House. McDonalds does their charity drives asking for donations to help "kids with cancer" but they do themselves a disservice. They are so much more than that. They operate homes for families whose children are hospitalized for any reason, not just cancer. It's a pay-what-you-can-afford system, so we paid nothing the five weeks we stayed there. The volunteers gave and gave and gave to us, everything from nutritious food (that we could in no way have afforded otherwise) to Christmas gifts for our hospitalized baby. They provide safe, calm, comfortable, clean housing for people in the most desperate point in their lives who don't need the added worry and expense of staying in a hotel, and they do it in the most gentle and loving way. I can't speak more highly of them. In some hospitals they even operate facilities for families of patients right inside the hospital, including laundry and shower services.

I know they're a well known charity, but I never pass up an opportunity to tell that story, because they need support and the service they provide is so deeply needed.

They just paid a significant amount towards our biggest medical bill, my c section. It's a non profit set up to help families who have lost a child pay for the medical bills involved, because these bills are an added stress and reminder that you don't get to take your baby home. We're super grateful to them so want to share their website to others if anyone wants a good cause to donate to :love
