I am about to start a re-read of the books, I have started with "New Spring", which was about a 6 hour read, mainly because I was distracted with life and things, and will be getting "the eye of the world" to start today.

Part of the reason for me doing this is I am a little addicted to the story, and I am curious to see how long it takes me to do all the books. I timed myself with the last book I read yesterday, 525 pages, in about 8 hours. average of 325 words per min.

I also want to really get into the descriptions of some of the things in the world. I have this urge to create some of the things in the world, so I need some more reading.

so I am curious as to how long it may have taken you to get through different books of WoT.

When I had 6 hours a day to read on-and-off, it took me about a week to finish a book (sometimes less). Now that I don't have as much free time, it takes me longer. I haven't measured my actual reading speed, though.

There is a site called http://www.readinglength.com that you can look books up and see the word count and average reading times. they give you places that you can time your reading speed as well. it's really kind of cool. I know I read fast, but I really didn't try and figure out how long it took me to go through a whole series. AMoL took me 3 days to read. but I know what you mean by having time constraints.

I just finished the series this week and already I am itching for a re-read! I will also start with A New Spring, since I haven't read that yet. It will be so hard though knowing who doesn't live and re-reading their lives D:

I know, it is going to drive me crazy, but I am loving the read through again. You will enjoy New Spring, it gives some good back fill on the story. I am into the great hunt now.

That is good to hear Fern. I am really looking forward to it, especially seeing the foreshadowing in the early books :pleased-1:

I am doing a re-read currently (loving it), which I started at 15th of Aug 2016 (goodreads says that, I dont remember)

According to goodreads (I am pretty exact with my starting date and finishing date), I take 2 weeks to a month reading a book. I think it depends on how long it is and how interesting it is :P For example Lord of Chaos started on Nov 17th and finished Dec 8th for obvious reasons :look: But Crossroads of Twilight started March 2nd and finished Apr 11th :x also for obvious reasons...

I feel like Knife of Dreams and the following ones will be read(listened to) pretty fast :D

I'm also re-reading at the moment. But I read about 2 Chapters per week, because I also want to read other books inbetween. But it's fun so far :)

It has always been very hard for me to read other books at the same time, once I start one I finish it. then go on to another. depending on how into the series I am. I will jump between a few of them. I am currently on The Fires Of Heaven right now, but when that one is done I have severed souls from Goodkind to read.

I just picked up New Spring today for a re-read. I really wish there were more prequels. I wanted to find out more about Tam al'Thor and his time travelling.

I've never timed myself reading. I know I'm pretty fast as I generally have no troubles getting through books in a short amount of time compared to what I seem to see friends and so on doing, but it's not something I ever have actually measured.

With a family of three kids under 6, I don't get a whole lot of free reading time, so it's nice that I'm a fast reader, so I can make the most out of the short time I get to read.

*laughs*

Most of the books I seem to read these days seem to get read in 10 minute chunks in the toilet each day.

Out of curiosity I just did a speed test online and it gave 623 wpm, which feels about right I guess.

holy word speed Reader Man!!

I also do the short and fast chunk reading, :giggle and when I am cooking and other odd things. I should get back to the reading in general, but my depression has reared it's large stupidly engrossing head on me, and I am finding it hard to concentrate on it. But I am trying, :)

I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you are doing better these days? Have you picked up a book to read yet?

I love re-reading New Spring, because it is such a quick read in comparison to all his other novels. :D And I love reading more about Lan and Moiraine. Moiraine is also one of my favourite characters from the series.

I'm started a reread as well and considering if I should start with New Spring or The Eye of the World. It would seem weird to not start with Rand and the Two Rivers, but maybe I should give it a shot.

I always have to force myself to slow down when reading. I tend to speed read or skim too much and miss the enjoyment of the language. Reading out loud has helped with this a lot but that get's tiring. I never realized how much I missed until I started listening to audio-books. There was so much beautiful language I had been missing!

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it. I also have to fight with depression at times, but reading can help for me. Hope you find relief. :hug

Well I decided to start with TEoTW. A new hardback just came in the mail (my old paperback was in pieces!) and got started last night. It's better than I remembered. Can't manage all nighters anymore but stayed up way later than intended. Such a great start to the series.

I am in Great Hunt at the moment. :)
And my eye of the world is also falling into pieces. :( It is also a paperback of the complete eye of the world. .. I think I have read it the fourth time now, but looked up things in between.
I have also got an english version but I still want to buy a new german one... and I will go for Hardcover.

Yeah, I have started listening to the audio books as well, and I get so many details that I have missed, despite having reread the books at least once a year since 2007 :look:
