For me as well. I really enjoyed reading about her. Also Sansa, becuase I think she is a quite authentic character, unlike Arya for example.

Yeah, totally agree Sephrenia. I'm a Sansa fan too! She's just as delusional and self-centered as a teenager (who has lived relatively sheltered* life all her childhood) should. I also really like the actor who plays her in the series.

*note that I'm talking about her childhood. :look I also love the way she copes with the bad stuff that comes her way. No useless bravado, just surviving.

Okay, I went ahead and watched every Daenerys part in the series (there is a video on YouTube that shows a chronological compilation of her storyline). I pretty much spoiled the first three books, but I couldn't help it. I just love the part with the Unsullied army :D

I'm really curious how her storyline will continue. But with Martin you'll never know :look so I fear for the worst.

I can't stand her, so I wouldn't be sad if G.R.R. treated her like other main characters. :p

Yeah im not a Sansa fan, Aryas story is more interesting even if she is a bit of an idiot sometimes.

I want to know what will happen with Brienne and Jaime as they (and Tyrion) are probably the nicest and most interesting characters. I liked how Jaime was painted as awful through the first books but when you started to read from his view his character was really fleshed out and showed development.

Now that I think of it, I also like Cersei. She is mean most of the time, but she too has her reasons that make perfect sense from her point of view.
I don't like the change in Jaime so much, I cannot really say why but I just think it doesn't fit.
And I'm really curious how Margary will develop.

Out of curiosity everybody, when you say you like or dislike a book character, what do you mean by it? Is it that you can't relate to the ones you don't like, or do you think their personalities are annoying, or is it something else, like you're not interested in their storylines? (I mean leaving out the cases of really badly written - i.e. one-dimensional characters)

Because I often like reading about characters that I'd probably dislike in rl. Like Daenerys Targaryen, or Cersei Lannister, or Sansa Stark (or, pretty much everybody in the aSoIaF - and WoT - books :p). They're all irritating and erratic and frustrating characters that I really don't relate to at all. But I like reading about them, because they're "alive", credible, and they're developing as the story goes (not necessarily to the good though :p).

    It's the same here.
I think I wouldn't be RL friends with any of the characters I like reading about in SoIaF and WoT, at least I cannot think about someone right now. There are probably some minor characters who could make some decent RL acquaintances.

Yes, it is like Umbridge from Harry Potter. She is absolutely horrible, and a totally annoying person, and I love reading about it :p Also in the movie, the person playing her is brilliant, you hate her so much, and it is awesome ^^

That's true. I enjoyed her even more in the movies than in the books.

It depends. I think I usually mean that I like or dislike reading about them. There are a few notable exceptions, Umbridge being one. I hate everything that has to do with her. I can, objectively, appreciate what she added to the series and the role she plays. But I hate the scenes with her and I hate her and everything that has to do with her, except of course I did love reading about her spazzing out when the Weasly twins go hog wild.

But anyway, this thread is about ASoIaF!

Yeah, I generally dislike the Sansa parts of the story. There are a few interesting bits, mostly the ones with Tyrion, and only because he makes them interesting. I hate all the stuff in the Eyrie because I find all the people present (except for Tyrion) uninteresting or painfully uncomfortable to read about.

I really like the Arya parts of the story because, IMO, they make for more interesting reading. Interesting things happen to her, and she gets herself into interesting situations. But also in RL, I think I would like Arya a lot more than Sansa.

Also, I agree with above that Cersei is a really interesting character. An absolutely horrible person, but what's so interesting about her is that you start to see where her motivations come from in the later books, and I just find that all so very fascinating.

I like Arya, Jon Snow, Tyrion, Brienne or Jorah Mormont for example. But Sansa or Daenerys and others are annoying like hell. I can read about them and value them as parts of the story but they're awful as persons.

I do not like Dany. Martin could kill her off any time and I would be okay with that. Honestly, he could kill of Arya too. She is one of my least favorite (though on the show she may be my most favorite) in the entire series.

I like Jon, I like Sansa, I love Jaime, I love Tyrion, I like Margaery. Brienne I like, but she tends to bore me after a bit. Cersei, well I think she is an interesting character, but I don't think there is anything redeeming about her, and she is totally insane, so I would rather see her dead.

WoW! I LOVE ARYA!!!! And I would follow Dany into Hell( probably why Jorah Mormont is my favorite Background character) I feel nothing but Pity for Dany. She isn't given enough credit for what shes had to overcome Pshycologically.

I really love this book series. I was given the first book on audio and I liked it so much i bought the book copies and audio books. I have listened to the audio books 3 times at work. I cannot wait until the last books come out. This story is getting really good and I need it finished!!! I have two favorite houses, Stark and Targaryen.

I was able to watch the first half of GOT on HBO because I had it free for like 3 months. I did think they picked good characters to play the people in the book. I pictured people very very similar to those that I saw on TV. I think the TV version of Drogo was pretty awesome... my version in my head was a little less mad looking but boy was he hott ^^ I heard though from friends who have read and watched the show seem to think it is veering from the books a bit, but that is only what I have heard. I plan on buying the entire series. I love the book enough to love the show!

A bit much. :look The further the series the more.

I've read only yesterday the new chapter (Arya) of The Winds of Winter on G.R.R. Martin's homepage. Not that new, though, it's from March or so. :look I wish, he'd write faster.
