I would put money on it being changed so that they only have to introduce one person rather than a whole new House. The name change... well that seems more arbitrary, but maybe they are planning on using Sansa's girlhood friend, also named Jeyne, in the future? Jeyne Pool does become pretty importan later on. At the very least, Jeyne is a very common name in the series and I see no problem with changing it. Especially if they are getting rid of her background and making her foreign. A more exotic name seems appropriate.

What bugs me more is the background change in particular - they've changed names before (Asha Greyjoy to Yara for example) and it works all right. Iirc in the books the Robb & Jeyne Westerling falling in love -storyline happened kind of behind the scenes. So I understand they had to show her more to get the drama working better. But Talisa's background in the tv series is a bit too sappy imo. She's too saint-like. Plus that I don't like how Oona Chaplin does the part. :p

    Man, I love this place!

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing what else does he have for us in waiting. I'd really love it if he could finish the series. I'm afraid that with the series and conventions and everything it won't be as soon as I'd like it to be :( I love the series and it's unpredictability so much.

I'm at the point where I hope the White Walkers win, and not just because they are white :white :p

The White Walkers skip the Wall, (leaving Sam and Jon alive :look) and then ruin Kings Landing and everyone in it, and then Daenerys and/or Tyrion comes back and saves the day ^^

Yeah, I know it's unlikely, but I've learned that in this series, you can expect the unexpectable :p

I feel you Charis. I think Martin's getting a lil bit carried away. He must be hearing how much his fans love his courage at making things so unpredictable. because hes just starting to be predictably unpredicatable JUST to be Unpredicatable and for shock value, even when the surprises make no sense and dont further the plot... :(

At this point the plot is to just keep on adding more storylines. he is suffering the same issues Jordan did in books 7-10. Just putting in more crap nobosy cares about and leaving the main storyline in the dust. Wheels spinning and no advancement.

I haven't read the books but the TV series is really good, it almost made me want to read the books but in my experience the medium (tv or books) you take up first is usually better than the others that's why I don't think the book would be that much interesting.

I read the books first and the TV show is a fair representation of them. Things get tweaked a bit of course. But then, I am generally more forgiving of booko to movie adaptationas than most people I know :cheese

I am too Charis. They are different mediums, and demand changes between the two. I would always suggest reading a book if it the source material to a movie or show you like. In this instance the books are better than the show. Don't get me wrong, I think it is one of the best shows on television, ever, but the books give so much more background and fill in so much of the story.

I've just finished the series so far and I have to say i'm glad i've read it but it definitely suffers towards the last two books. Arya's storys is just being dragged out, Cercei really needs to die, and Tyrion rule the world (riding a pig!).

I agree, the last two books just go on and on. :|
I just hope the next one will be better...

I would love to start this series, since I really like the show and I tend to prefer books. I'm torn between starting now and reading through both series (Song of Ice and Fire & Wheel of Time) or reading through WoT first so I can read SoFaI to stave off post-series blues.

(Realistically, I don't have time for either!)

Ice and fire is amazing. But maybe you should stick to one series at a time ;) At least I tend to get confused when reading so many thinks at once, especially since both series have a lot of characters to remember.

I read asoiaf, WoT, and several other series all at once. I say start ice and fire now. It is worth it through book 4. Hopefully it will be worth it in book 6... whenever that comes out. Probably a decade from now :p

I've read only the first book, and now I can't wait to go to the bookstore to buy the second one. Daenerys is my favorite character for now :D
