1st Anni Prep--What to Pack?

I just registered for Anni, and I am excited to go to a live event. However, I am having a problem thinking of what I need to bring, and since I will be flying, it will be especially limited.

I used to be in the SCA, so when packing for a weekend event, it was often:

• Garb
• Armor
• o-ring belt w/ belt pouches
• chest of baubles for friendly gambling
• wooden plate w/ cutlery set
• pewter mug
• tent
• sleeping bag

And the list goes on...

And the SCA is the only experience I have with a roleplaying weekend event type of thing.

While, I know lodging is provided and so is food, how much else do we need to pack with us aside from clothes for the weekend?

I don't want to end up at the event and think, "If I had only known, I could have packed..."

So, any tips for a newcomer on what to bring or how to prepare to get the most out of it?

Many of us use the event as an excuse to wear garb, especially to the ceremonies. I would recommend NOT bringing armor if you are flying, mostly because it is a pain to lug around the airport.

Yeah, that extra 30 lbs for a chain mail shirt or leather armor really does make your bags go over limit, too

We've side barred about this already but truthfully, pack as if you were going to visit a friend for a weekend. If you should want some garb go ahead! There's always one or two of us dressed up

There is by no means a requirement for dressing up!

We are just excited to see you and spend time with you!

I don’t always have a chance to get to the local Ren Faires, so I don’t wear garb as much as I used to when I was active in the SCA. I do like the thought of bringing some and wearing it, as long as it fits in the packing.

I am excited to meet new people and be there, too!

This Anni is unique in that no linens are provided, but several of us are bringing extras. Snacks and beverages of choice are the only special items you should need.
