    WoT and cultural appropriation allegations

Hi all! TL:DR - Does WoT participate in harmful cultural appropriation? Asking not in an accusing tone, but someone who's been a fan the majority of my life and really would like to hear some thoughts on this. The story: I had a weird conversation in a FB group the other day where I...

    New to the White Tower

I feel the same that RJ could have continued for so much longer with more detail had he had more time! For that reason, I actually... have never read A New Spring :D. I bought the book years ago. But I haven't read it. I just feel like, if I never read it, then I can always keep that lowkey...

    Also newly returned!

Hi all! I created a profile a few years ago, with the hope of making some friends and becoming Aes Sedai :), when life got somewhat in the way. Situations have resolved and I feel like a whole new person! I still like long-distance/touring/endurance cycling, still love reading, knitting, and...

    Re-Introducing myself

Haha I'm so glad to see someone re-introducing themselves! I was debating for a while whether to log into my old account or just start afresh. :) I feel like I've changed a lot over three years. Happy upcoming 1st birthday to your son!! My next door neighbors have a ~1+ yo and I love her so...

Thank you! :) I had been growing my hair out from a pixie, and the day I took that photo was the first day that it didn't feel like a half-grown out mess, so I was pretty happy! :D Did you make your profile pic? I like yours too! :) And I think I can see writing on the bottom? But my computer...

    Hello, World!

Spanish was my mother's first language, so I've always wanted to become fluent in it. :) However she refuses to speak it with me (she doesn't look Mexican at all, and my Aba raised her to "pass as white", so she has a lot of discomfort associated with it :( ). Latin and Ancient Greek were...

    Hello, World!

Oh cool! I used to live right down the street from the NWYC :). Much agreement on the pollen count... Those dang cottonwood trees are my nemesis. Does the NWYC send you different places all year? Re: migrating, my parents were both extremely religious and also fed up with how expensive...

    Hello, World!

Hahaha I wish he were the first thing I think of when I think of Eugene... But no, my brain is stuck on Eugene from Grease.

    Hello, World!

Omg cyanobacteria <3 <3 <3. They are ancient, supa cool, and also... adorable under a microscope. I named my rats after them. Euglena is rat-shaped (bottom-heavy potato shaped :D), and its flagella looks like a tail. Also very quick. Though at least the rat would come back when you called her.

    Hello, World!

Vonnegut is one of a handful of authors from my old high school reading list I came across while I was moving house, which I had never read in school... I had an awesome, curmudgeonly Literature teacher. There were only enough students to separate us into two classes, and mine was the second one...

    Hello, World!

Hi! :) I'm glad this place exists. This is one of those book series I am almost constantly re-reading, and I've often wished that there were some sort of Aes Sedai-esque society out in the real world. I didn't remember until recently that the internet is a big place, and I might want to look...
