I finished the book about 3 days after it came out. I really liked some parts like when Pevara and Androl bond each other and rescue the Black Tower. But the character death saddened me. Especially Egwene and Gawyn. :cry
I think the Horneater Peaks might contain Shardpools. If they do I can imagine them being fairly important.
As to Aons, from what I've seen of Aons and Vorin glyphs I don't think they are similar.
While Tolkien didn't extend the series for money, he did have to split it. It was originally intended to be a stand-alone. No series is ever as short as the author originally intended.
