I wonder how much of the books storyline can be ‘done away with’ before it’s no longer the wheel of time.
I understand changes have to be made, and I’ve written before it’s an ‘adaptation’ after all, but, as much as I’m enjoying the series (when I stop myself from being overly critical) I think...
Wow…
There is a lot here to think over!
I will have to rewatch the episode before properly gathering my thoughts.
The changes to the plot are certainly interesting, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
I love the WOT and RJ is certainly one of my favourite authors, but he is not top of the list for me.
I’ve read most of the players in the field,
I started in fantasy with David Eddings and Lloyd Alexander, who I suppose are quite similar in certain ways.
I think Polgara is one of the best...
I got quite far with Malazan but eventually gave up on Toll The Hounds.
There are moments of brilliance in Eriksons writing but ultimately I just felt it was unnecessarily complicated and that his writing meandered far too much.
I’ve watched this episode 3 times now,
In relation to the treatment of Egwene, how did everyone react?
I felt it was quite well done, in the sense that the audience has to understand how dire her situation is, without going over the top into gratuitous violence.
It’s a fine line but I think...
I’ve rewatched episode 6. Again, much better time second around.
Rand is becoming more focused as a character,
I guess I still have a concern over things being rushed.
However, I try to view the series as someone who hasn’t read the books over and over and as such is aware of the plot points...
To be honest the show has lost me in these last two episodes.
I don’t think the story points work well when the plots have been rushed so much.
There are moments when it grabs my interest, but not enough.
It’s odd because book 2 is probably my favourite of the series and is such a massive...
To quote RJ from his statement when he told the world he was ill
To quote RJ when he released a statement advised on his illness,
' I sat down and figured out how long it would take me to write all of the books I currently have in mind, without adding anything new and without trying rush...
Part of the reason I made this thread was due to how Lanfear 'ended.'
I basically have not been involved with or taking notice of WOT fandom or discussion for around 10 years, and have only come back due to the tv series.
I read A Memory Of Light and was somewhat disappointed that this was how...
I couldn't see a thread on this topic so hope i'm not going over old ground too much,
I wondered what people felt about the end of the forsaken, character by character.
It's interesting that all but one of the female forsaken survived, in various ways, wheres all the male forsaken were wiped...
I never liked the Seanchan story-line in the books that much. I felt it was an unnecessary complication of the story-line, and I also feel it was never really completed in the books (though there are good reasons for this).
Aviendha is probably my favourite character in the series, so i was...
Point of interest -
Most of the people posting on here have been here a long time, so you are all obviously massive fans of the books and possibly the series.
How many times do you watch the episodes?
I'd also like to add to the above that I think Mat is pretty much an impossible character to transfer from the written page to TV.
So, in that sense maybe 1/10 is harsh.
