Well, I applied for Citizenship yesterday, really hoping I can get it in time so I can come to the TV meetup that is in Dublin next month... WoT fans gathering somewhere?! Grad school overseas... Subway special today for 3 euro... everything is going my way here lately haha

Yep! They're our national icon. A small critically endangered flightless bird that survives on scavenging the forest floor. Good choice New Zealand. :P
I guess after Scotland chose the Unicorn as their national animal, it was hard to top that so we didn't really try. :P

The kiwi fruit was originally called the Chinese gooseberry, but industrious NZ'ers named the fuzzy brown fruit after their national bird and began to grow them in New Zealand. Most kiwis will differentiate themselves from the other two by saying "Kiwi bird, kiwi fruit, kiwi." I've learned the strangest things after 13 years of marriage.
