I'm sure most of us would love to see some kind of adaptation of WoT on TV or as films. Both Lord of the Rings and Game of the Thrones have had successful adaptations, although both have been rather expensive to adapt from their respective books. What would you rather see? A series of films or a tv series, much like Game of Thrones? Are there any particular actors anyone would like to see as their favourite characters?
Personally, I'd prefer WoT as an anime. Then you could have as many episodes as is necessary to show the whole story, and it would be a lot cheaper to produce. There are a lot of very talented voice actors that could be used and you'd need a rather large cast anyway.

I'd definitely rather see WoT portrayed as an animated TV series. The exact style of animation...I'm not too sure. Maybe anime, or something like Korra or The Last Airbender. I'm not sure. But I believe animation would have a much better chance of doing the series justice compared to live action.

I'd like to see it as an anime styled series too but maybe done by Studio Ghibli or someone like them that does good quality animation and detail oriented. Either that or an HBO series like Game of Thrones would be good :)

Yeah, the Studio Ghibli-approach could be good. And animation would logistically make the most sense. A film could be a great kick-off with the right director, but I think that it's generally accepted that the best storytelling (long-form especially) at this point is on TV, HBO, AMC and so forth.

Cast is crucially important, of course.

Anyone got any favourite actors (voice or live action) they'd like to see or hear? I'd definitely have Claudia Black in the cast, maybe as an Aes Sedai. J. Michael Tatum too, he has such a lovely voice :evil

I would be ok with either an anime style like The Last Airbender or a TV show like Game of Thrones. I do worry about doing a TV show though. If they did one book per season (10 episodes), and released 1 season per year ala Game of Thrones... We would be looking at an immensely long series. Idk if anyone would be able to do GoT style and attention to detail while doing 2 seasons per year.

I think that anime would make the most sense because any fantasy series in live-action will be compared with Game of Thrones. The show already has a large following and no one wants to compete with it.
Anime will also show channeling, strange creatures and the world with more accuracy than live-action. Computers and make-up have gotten better but they are not that good!

Michael Madsen As Ishmael? Or maybe some OTHER forsaken? Ian McKellan!!!?? C'mon...He should be involved in each and every fantasy production from now until the end of the world!
Kevin McKidd AND Ray Stevenson! Both!Jonathan Rhys Meyers as another forsaken?? Karl Urban? Ken Wantanabe!
Ali Larter , amy smart, Natalie Portman? Mae Whitman, Jennifer Connely. And that's JUST the beginning!! LOLOLOL

Dude Brand, Jennifer Connely never occurred to me before, but she is fantastic.

I think about Naomi Watts (Moiraine), Sam Elliott (Thom), Sienna Miller (Elayne), maybe Garrett Hedlund, Elizabeth Banks...Rooney Mara might be good for Nynaeve or Egwene. Kevin Mckidd also good.

I have always thought that it would make a perfect animated series. I doubt film could do it justice. As for cast, I always imagined Patrick Warburtons voice while Lan was talking.

Sean Bean would have to be someone that dies, since that's what he's good at playing

I see the guy who played Tywin Lannister as one of the Whitecloak Lord Captains :pleased-1:

I would love to see it as an HBO series. Anime would also be good, but I'd rather see live actors! :D

Films won't be good for WOT.The LoTR films were a success because there were much fewer books. We have 14(+ the prequel) and it won't be the same as LoTR or Harry Potter. The best choices would be an anime or series like the GoT.I really wish there was an anime already.

It'd be fun to do one of those fake trailers, where you splice together footage from other films/shows, add some subtitles and narration and overdub a good piece of music.

Now, I really want to do that.

As much as I love Game of Thrones, I'd personally like to see WoT adapted into an animated series, but less Japanese anime in style. I don't know if any actor can perfectly capture the characters brought to life in the books. There is a beautiful indie rpg called The Banner Saga on steam that has, in my opinion, the perfect art style for a WoT series though.
