I have to agree none of them were really scary in this age. There are references to them being more evil in the War of Shadow, but they were kinda boring as far as bad guys go to me. The Seanchan were much scarier to me as a nemesis than any of the forsaken could be.

In EotW and TGH, Ishmael scared the hell out me (though I didn't he was Ishmael at the time). If I read before going to sleep, I'd have bad dreams :P Afterwards, none of the forsaken were scary to me because there was at least one who pretty much died at the end of every book, so they became vunerable in my mind after that.

Edit: The coolest was Demandred, he was the craftiest. Neither I, or the other Forsaken were ever quite sure what he was doing until the end. He never died in the series, and led the LB. Definitely the coolest.

Scariest without a doubt Semirhage, Imean come on, she's a crazy sadist who has accumulated a vast pantheon of medical knowledge. If she got her hands on me, I would try so hard to kill myself. Coolest back story, MHeal. He was a False Dragon, caused chaos throughout Saldea, almost beat a great captain in battle (only losin because of some young upstart in the sky), went on to become leader of the first institute of male channelers on this side of the spine since before the breaking, and created a new generation of Dreadlords, all this before he was made the only chosen to be raised in the 3rd age

Lanfear rules all. The rest I find petty and less interesting, whichis the natural effect of evil I suppose.

If I had to pick, Balthamel if I remember because he was the one who created all the shadowspawn. Or was it Aginor? Either way to be able to create evil creatures to do your bidding would be wicked!

Of all the forsaken I think Ishmael and Mogheidin where the most intriguing to me. The fact that Mogheidin was the only one to survive shows she is the most dangerous.

I would have to pick Lanfear for both categories. Her actions, motives and powers are all unpredictable. She had Rand at her mercy more than once (when we first meet her in The Great Hunt and when the trollocs attack the Stone in The Shadow Raising) but she attacks him in The Fires of Heaven.
Lanfear's powers are unknown until she uses them against someone. No one really knows what she will do or why. She is the scariest and the worst to have as an enemy.

I agree that the MHeal would be a terrifying enemy because of his back story but he is not a forsaken.

I agree that the MHeal would be a terrifying enemy because of his back story but he is not a forsaken.

In the prologue of A Memory of Light, Taim — now using the name "M'Hael" exclusively — is revealed to be the first in a new generation of the Forsaken, having been promoted for creating an army of Dreadlords among the Asha'man at the Black Tower.

I think Graendal's the coolest :look:

But the scariest? None of them are really scary imo.

I can't tell if my imagination is just too active, or if I'm too easily scared. But for all the people saying none of them are scary, seriously? Are you not imagining what it was like to have people with that much power and absolutely no scruples running rampant during the war of power? Asmodean, arguably the lamest of all the Forsaken (seriously... a bard?) severed his own mother and gave her to the myrddraal, just because. If you met someone who had calmly handed his own mother over to a bunch of psychopathic rapists for no particular reason, would you not be utterly terrified of them?
