So, something that I have been pondering since I finished AMOL. What was said in the conversation between Hawkwing and Tuon? Did he praise her? Give her a lecture? I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that one!

That is a great question! I actually forgot about that completely. I'd like to think Hawkwing probably appreciated that they remembered him, but maybe told her they were taking it a bit far. Hawkwing must understand that empires rise and fall, it's not their right as descendants to own the "empire" just because they have Hawkwing's blood.

I dont have time at the moment, but in the twitter Q&A Brandon did mention something about their talk...mostly Touns feeling after and she wasnt "happy", but no real details. When I get time later I will find it and post his reply to that question here.

In the parody of that conversation that happens inside my head, Hawkwing implied that Mat is way more awesome than she is. :giggle

Sanderson says that the conversation between Hawkwing and Tuon did occur, and that it was "interesting", and Tuon reacted "with great consternation" when talking with Hawkwing.

This is what Brandon said about that on the Twitter Q&A. I am hoping the encyclopedia has something more detailed on what was actually said between them.

My guess is that he basically said they're kind of crazy-pants and made her think about a lot of things like how they treat damane. I, too, would love to have been a fly on the wall for that one. Hawkwing probably did commend her on her choice of spouse, though!

I have to agree with the choice of spouse, because Mat is awesome. A fly on the wall.... I wouldn't have minded being the worm under the carpet, fly on the wall, or whatever I also wanna know what was said.

He probably gave her a pat pat on the head and told her to fetch him a sandwich ;-)

Then he would of course go on about how it was not his intention for as rigid of a society to develop in his name, though he must have been darn proud that he was remembered so well, flawed as the memory is.

He may have said they should have executed them on sight...Hawkwing hated Aes Sedai in life XD

That is true about him hating Aes Sedai, but I bet in the after life he he possible found out the truth about them that not all are bad. Change of hearts do happen.

Yeah. Pretty sure he eventually figured out he was tricked and manipulated.

Hawking didn't actually have anything against channelers, did he? Just the white tower and what it stood for. I believe he attempted to create a rival group of aes sedai, for those who chose to forsake their former loyalty

Well, in the Westlands, channeler = Aes Sedai, in the minds of most people. By the end, I think he was pretty distrusting of any woman who could channel, whether or not they claimed to have forsaken their vows. In fact, didn't he have an Aes Sedai adviser whom he supposedly trusted? She's the one that made the first adam, and he rewarded her by putting it around her neck, IIRC.

Yep. And Hawkwing himself had been manipulated by Ishamael during one of his not-bound-with-the-Dark-One periods.
