I would like to thank @Barmacral Tigana for being willing to host a Euro Party in 2020, even if that never ended up happening. I hope we can get to Umeå at another year.
As it is, we are now looking at other places to host Euro Party in 2022!

Do you know just the right location for a fantastic party? Is there a location in you vicinity that you want to help us explore? Please let us know about it!
Fill out this form and if your bid is of interest to us, we will contact you for further information. If there are some details you don't know, just say so and we can get back to it.
https://forms.gle/XvVbu7T1mJddCYNx9

Keep in mind that we are accepting bids for either a Conference style party (cabin in the woods with the Tower hosting all entertainments) or a Tourist party (in a location with sights away from our lodging to see and enjoy).

Things to keep in mind when submitting a bid:
  • If your bid is selected, you will be an integral part of the planning. By making a bid, you are volunteering to be the local liaison.
  • Typical events take place from Friday (afternoon) to Sunday (morning), and can be held virtually at any time of year.
  • Conference style events are generally held in a campground/bunkhouse type location. The site should have cabin-like living arrangements, kitchen space for meal preps, and spaces for events like sword fighting, tournaments, and other activities. Preferred site locations would be moderately isolated. We tend to be fairly loud so being 10 feet from a cabin holding a Scout meeting, or a religious conference may not be the best arrangement for either party.
  • Tourist events are generally held in a hotel style location and in a location with easily accessible sites to see. Traditionally these have only one catered meal that will also need to be arranged by the Local Liaison.
  • Normal Euro attendance is between 20 and 30 people.
  • Conference party tickets tend to be around £75 / €90, for reference.
  • Tourist party tickets have been around €120 / £85, for reference.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to send me an email at euevents@tarvalon.net, or to
@Melisande Arneil at events@tarvalon.net

Deadline: October 25th

EDIT: New deadline: November 30th

9 days until October 25!! Even if you don't wish to be the local liaison, if you have an idea of where you'd like to go for 2022, let us know! Send us an email and give us your suggestions! We're open to pretty much anything!

I know a cool location (in a medieval tower), but it only sleeps up to 14 persons :(

Maybe a big cabin in Sweden? I know that my Swedish course will offer a one week stay in a conference like location on a lake, so there must be at least one option available ;)

Or we could go to Gdansk, which is a lovely city or to Vienna or Praha, bug obviously no one of us is living there... or Edinburgh, the loveliest city of all.
I have so many ideas, but it's hard to organize something from afar, when you don't have the chance to check out places first.

I've been trying to find something in my area but haven't been successful within the prescribed budget.
I'm assuming the conference price is for the full time + 3 meals a day for everyone. Including rent of materials etc.
The things I've found don't fall within this price range, but that can be down to my bad researching skills.

I was considering proposing Bulgaria, somewhere in the mountains, it's very beautiful and cheap. The problem is me traveling there to find a good place, cause I dont have a car and I dont drive :P. And then transporting everyone from the airport to the place.
I will continue researching too though.

Planning a Euro Party is quite an affair, even when you are there to be sure that everything is exactly as it should be, let alone when you can't check it out... :( And fourteen people doesn't seem like a lot... The Serbian and the Norwegian Euro Party were definitely the smallest in the last several years - in other places such as in the UK, there were upwards of twenty people. We can't really predict it for next year, either.

I would quite like that, Ilverin. :pleased-1: I've never actually been to Bulgaria yet!

I haven’t requested approval for what I’m about to post, but if we get that far then we can work through it.

The “budget” listed should be a general guide and not a hard and fast rule. We don’t want things to cost substantially more, but just because something might shouldn’t prevent the bid. We’re back on solid financial ground so if there is a perfect spot that would cost a little too much, we have the capability of covering part of costs from the general fund.

We like to break even on events when we can, but more importantly we want a great event.

It will be good to have something. I think possibly people are nervous about hosting an event due to pandemic, possible post pandemic socialising. I feel confident in attending one.
I might try co hosting and organise. I just don't want sole responsibility.

Cassie has the right of it - the budget is a guide, and we can all work together to put on a fun event. Just need some ideas on where to go! :)

Ok, I have to write up a resume and a cover letter for a job application by 25th too, but I'll try to see if I can find something and not focus too much on the price and then see how it does or doesn't fit with what is looked after.

Mystica, I have the same problem in Norway :( Almost everywhere I check is way outside the budget or doesn't allow alcohol :(

I so would love to visit Norway someday... I have Northern roots (not sure which North though  ) and I really would love to visit up there sometime. I hope I get a chance.

I have a question for the tourist parties. Would people share a room together or do we need to cover for everyone in single room? Because that's a big difference in prices.

(the conferences may not be possible, the ones I found were all 'no drinking parties allowed', so yeah... )

Last time we were in Belgrade we had mostly double rooms, but some 3 or 4 people rooms as well. We don't need single rooms for everyone.

Hello.

So, I didn't get any bids for Euro Party this time :( So I am extending the deadline. I know several of you have made unofficial suggestions, but I need an official bid to be sure! We can fix it if it is a tad too expensive, we can be flexible on timing, but I can't make a whole event on my own! So, please, if you know somewhere we could meet, please fill out the form, or contact me at euevents@tarvalon.net or Melisande at events@tarvalon.net

NEW DEADLINE: November 30th.
