Here's the ring shown in the trailer:

It looks quite bigger and bulkier than I would expect, but I guess it is very noticeable.

I imagined the circular part that goes around the finger would be the snake biting the tail, while this design has more of a signet-type ring, with the snake coming over that.

Moiraine's ring on this photo does not look the same but maybe it's just my eyes:

Ugh - maybe I'm the only one, but I don't like it.

There is no way I could wear a ring this big everyday. I love the Badali ones and others that are more understated.

However, I totally agree that the understated ones would be hard to see and recognize in the TV format.

Also - who is kissing that ring? I know sometimes folks kiss the Amyrlin's ring, but it is on her hand at that point??

I believe the running theory is that it is Stepin, Karene Nagashi's warder. There's been some discussion on it here.

That's what I heard, too.

It would be cool if the rings have a colored stone to represent the different Ajahs. But still not sure if I really like such a bulky ring. I guess they wanted to make them easier to see for the viewers?

This is what I thought as well. Also, in the books, they make a big deal about how the rings marks an Aes Sedai. It has to be easily recognizable for that effect. Especially since they aren’t doing the ageless face.

I hadn't noticed that before, but yeah -- if that's the Great Serpent ring, yikes, it's big. And I guess I can see the point of that for TV, but I have no desire to wear one myself -- my hands are too small for me to like chunky jewelry.

I doubt they'd include colored stones for the Ajahs, though, since Accepted also wear the ring. Though I suppose the stone could theoretically be added later, it would look odd to have an empty setting in the meanwhile.

They might take away the custom of Accepted wearing the ring to avoid confusion.

That would make a lot of sense, actually. Though it raises the question of how it would work for the girls to pass themselves off as Aes Sedai, if they don't have rings to "prove" their status . . . but then on the other hand, we don't know if that plotline is even going to happen in anything like that shape.

Exactly! I don't know if I thought it would be so bulky, but makes sense for TV. Also, the ouroboros is found throughout history and there is jewelry out there that is similar that isn't WoT inspired.

Honestly, I'll probably get one anyway because I am all about shinies too. :laugh: I still prefer the one I have for day to day, but could see wearing this one when I want or if dressed up in garb or WoT attire. I still need to see more details though! Price point when replicated probably would be a factor for me too, of course. Lol

....I also prefer silver to gold.... hopefully they have folks that provide that too!

I can't find it right now, but there was an amazing meme about how WoT fans were almost as excited about the merchandise as the show. :laugh:
