Hello everyone! Very happy to be here!

I'm Arinna, and I LOVE Wheel of Time. I have been reading and rereading the WoT books since ~1996 but have never really gotten involved with any online communities. However, when I saw that trailer.....Y'ALL. I am gonna need some people to have Feelings about this television show with!! So I figured I'd join up here.

Basic info about me: I am originally from the New Orleans area but live in DC with my husband and two cats. I am a biochemist with a specialty in enzymology (i.e., I am IRL Brown Ajah) and work at the US patent office. Interests/hobbies/other activities include: powerlifting, church, board game nights with friends, watching Taskmaster, and extracting my cats from various scrapes.

Favorite WoT characters: Egwene and Nynaeve! My favorite other author is probably Melanie Rawn, although my pandemic-induced need for cozy literature has lead me to read "Gaudy Night" by Dorothy Sayers TWICE already in 2021.

Anyway, I think that's probably enough for now. Hope to do lots more chatting with y'all soon!

I had been trying to not get my hopes up about the show because, let’s be real, the track record for adaptations of epic fantasies is not amazing (like, The Shannara Chronicles? My apologies if any of y’all liked that show, but WOOF I didn’t think it was great). And then they dropped the trailer, and I am ALL IN, which means it’s going to feel even worse when they inevitably make a change that breaks my heart!

I've been trying to give it a very flexible eye, if that makes sense. There are some elements that wouldn't adapt well to a modern audience. :look:

Also, I've seen so many dream casting ideas that make me go "so...make-up and wigs have no power in your mind. Got it." :laugh:

I've also come to love the thought process that Rafe has been sharing with us.

I'm super excited.

I've been following along the last year or two as things were developing and I'm pretty stoked and optimistic for the show. :pleased-1:

Like most, I was unsure at first, but I feel pretty good about what has been shared along the way.

I know there will be changes, but I'm going to accept it for the medium it is and another extension of the books which gives me more WoT stuff to geek over. :love

Thanks, and YES same! I'm simultaneously v v v excited and v apprehensive because the theme of 2021 is basically getting you hyped for things and then cruelly dashing all of those hopes--why yes, I AM in a late-pandemic funk, why do you ask?
