Hello everyone.

Doing the introduction dive. I tend to watch, read, listen these forums...not good at starting. I even declined to start the WOT series numerous times as it was an incomplete series when I first encountered them. But...while deployed to a sandy far off land (through extraordinary and slightly embarrassing circumstances), I received a care package with 9 signed books from a certain RJ and a note asking that I read them and thanking me. At that point, I had to dive in.....

Every couple of years my reading wheel turns full circle again as I start another re-read...too many times to count now; but here I am again back on the The Great Hunt. And WOW...here at The White Tower, you've already given me many insights that I had missed previously. It's like a first time.......again.

So many throughout...for me each character has there own...e.g. Verin's reveal, Matt's meetings with Gen. Karade, Ituralde at the Battle of Mardon....of course I'm looking forward to finding and sharing these nuggets over ale (or tea) even virtually.

Curiously, I'm not exactly sure who sent the books. The note was from Jordan. But who put it all together? Why? My speculation and best guess is as follows. Earlier, there was a South Carolina reserve unit deployed with us that I supported and worked closely with on a number of encounters (some of which were extraordinary and slightly embarrassing). I have suspicions that it might have been the CO or a senior staff member. They never stay connected (of course this was baby internet days). They rotated home; I received the care package, the rest remained unsolved. I donated the books to the next unit replacing us...as with weight allowance I couldn't take them home, and based on the note, it seemed more appropriate. The gift, the books were a generous respite from the daily vigors. The note I kept with intention to reply and to find the "Who." However, due to my circumstances (repeated "other" deployments), the years slipped past along with the opportunity. Now, it is a fondly remembered kindness.
