Myself I have started noticing in Towers of Midnight how they do mess up some of the names. One section they will just say it wrong and then the next section get it right.

Though I did sit in a panel at Celebration VI about the Star Wars audiobooks and they were saying that unless something is really wrong during the recording they will not do a retake. So this might be what happens in the WoT audiobooks as well, they might say that mispronouncing the name wrong is not big enough to go back and redo.

I listened to the first ten books on audio and... now that I'm reading KoD, I can't escape the Kramer/Redding voices in my head. I keep hearing them all the time while I read, and I've even slowed down reading to suite their reading tempo (not on purpose, obviously).

But yeah, I noticed about Moghedien and it irked me on end the first time around, but now I'm kinda used to it...

:cheeseeni:

I love audiobooks in general. I wouldn't have read half the books I did if I didn't listen to them. Also, I wouldn't do so much housework otherwise :P

I personally love audio books. I used to listen to them all the time at work. Now that my job responsibilities have changed it makes it a little difficult. :( I have listened to many books narrated by both Kramer and Reading. They are actually two of my favorites now (even though they pronounce some WOT names incorrectly :nono). If you want to hear bad narration, listen to Warbreaker by Sanderson. I love that book and that guy absolutely massacred it.

The voices do take some getting used to. However, it's great if you want to get through the books, and you have a long commute. I don't have time to sit down and read the books, so the audio books are the next best thing for me.

My only issues with the Audio books is how between Michael and Kate they don't seem to decided how something is pronounced before they record. Often in the same book they pronounce the same words differently.

I am actually on my 4th listening of WoT :) His voice does grow on you however I am sure it will never match what is in your head. I think that for an audiobook the series is great. I have listened to some horrible audiobooks!

A strength of the audio books is that it is often read aloud slower than I read in my head. The result is that I slow down and get more information that I would have glided over previously. I find myself enjoying more of the fore-shadowing as I go through the audio books for the first time.

I'm used to audiobooks and could sometimes care less what the narrator sounds like, but I really wanted these books to be done well. The first audiobook of the series I listened to was GS and I loved it. I think they "hit their stride" and I loved knowing exactly whether a new chapter started with Mat, Rand, or Perrin just from the sound of his voice. But when i went back to some earlier books, yeah, not as good. HOWEVER, KoD has an interview with Rober Jordan at the end that is brilliant!

I started with book 3 (The Dragon Reborn) of the audiobooks, and I like them a lot. I spend about two hours driving each day, and I have a lot of time at work to listen where my hands and eyes are busy. The audiobooks allowed me to continue moving through the series where I had stopped before due to work. I'm really glad these are an option, because I wouldn't have time to read at all otherwise. I'm starting book 5 (The Fires of Heaven) now!

Edit: I guess I still don't have time to read, but I can at least listen.

I was given Eye of the World as an audio book as a gift. After starting to listen to it there was something that kept nagging at me about it. It took me a bit, but I finally figured out what it was. Those reading the books were wonderful, they just dont read as fast as I do. I am a very fast reader and I always felt like I was waiting for them to catch up to me.

Maybe if it was a book that I hadnt read before it might not have been so bad.

I read the first three books then I switched to audio as I found it convenient to have something to listen to whilst doing various chores. I prefer the wife reading but I just love listening to them. I really hear everything !

I just finished book 4, having listened to all 4 on audio! The first bit of book 1 was a bit rough for me to get used to the narration, but since then I've enjoyed the presentation fine.

By the way, how are you supposed to pronounce Moghedien???

I actually have the entire series on Audio Book (YAY! Audible I love Audible), comparing that and the Song of Fire and Ice Audio books, the different readers is great it makes the inner thoughts sound better when coming from a proper gender voice, as opposed to a dude speaking Arya's inner thoughts.

I listened to the audio books 6 years after reading then. I really enjoyed the audio books but I do think that reading them on your own should be first. The male narrator took some getting used to but by the end I heard his voice when I read. The female reader grew me in but I still here the voices I made up when I read.

I agree Almira - I always read the latest WoT book before listening to the audio version. I listen to them all every other year or so. They are my comfort reads :pleased-1: (erm, comfort listens? :scratch).

I think the audio books would make it so much easier to 'read' some of the slower books and parts. Since there are TONS of them..

I've recently downloaded all the WOT audio books just started The Dragon Reborn. I drive 50 mins to work every morning and 50 mins back so I can get a good amount of listening done.
