One of my childhood friends got the free copy of Dragon Warrior when Nintendo Power launched, and so we would trade games for a couple weeks at a time, I'd borrow DW and Ultima from him, and he'd borrow Final Fantasy or Zelda from me. Been hooked since. :swordy
