That first one always hits me like a ton of bricks, Jocasta.

When Aviendha first sees Elayne after the whole thing and was so terrified that Elayne was dead...gets me every time.

Perrin learning about his family and trying so hard to hold it in and carry on is one of the hardest scenes for me.

Not always something I cry at, but I also get emotional whenever the main Two Rivers characters are worried about each other. Stuff like in TFoH after Egewne is injured by Lanfear, and Rand sees Mat sitting miserably with her unconscious body, trying to wake her up.

Yeah the Two Rivers' characters' support for each other is always touching. Especially any time Mat gets emotional. I was also thinking about
Nynaeve's reluctance to leave Mat behind at Ebou Dar. Right in the same scene as they all flee the Seanchan.

I spared a tear for
"Elayne's horse Lioness"
too.

Edit- screwed up my tags.

Ugh... just finished the series again a few days ago. It must have been a long while since I read AMoL. I forgot how many people died! :cry

Agreed!!

Siuan Sanche ... after all she did and went through and then she dies so tragically ... and then Gareth Bryne as well :cry

I teared up major at the end of the last book, with
Rand and the Dark One. It gives me shivers every time.

I am currently on Book 12. Just had a moment that really pulled at me.

Verin met with Egwene in her room sipping poisoned tea and revealing herself as Black Ajah, her motives, and what had been gained. The information she is providing is a great gain, but I liked Verin and it was very sad for her to die this way. But at least she won, by passing on what she'd learned.

Yes, this one for me too Dar'Jen. Verin reminded me of my history professor for some reason, good person at her core. :)

That's one of my two favorite moments in the series. It's so sad and also pure and heroic. She dedicated her life to that moment, giving selflessly to aid the Light.

Love that moment. And it's kind of hilarious, every time one of our friends who is reading the series gets to that part, the next time they come over they shove everyone who is behind them out of the room and just say her name in a despairing tone.

I was listening to the books via audio and stopped just before that scene before a job interview that I had that day. Glad I did cause that would have been hard to explain during the interview.

Feros, I completely understand. Couldn't imagine trying to explain to an interviewer why you were emotionally distracted.

Major AMoL Spoiler. Absolutely, unequivocally broke me, and I'm tearing up remembering it now.

Egwene died. Rand screamed in denial, in rage, in sorrow.

"Not her! NOT HER!"

The bond that Rand and Egwene shared, and how it was reinforced with their last dance before Tarmon Gai'don, it absolutely kills me. Especially re-reading their interactions, how they loved each other so deeply they simply assumed it would one day become romantic and they would spend eternity together. Some things changed, but that one fact didn't. Dammit, Jordan/Sanderson.

Honestly, I think that particular scene was meant to happen from the beginning :look:

But yes, that was a very sad moment :(

The end made me cry. Just the culmination of it all, and to go to turn the page and to know it has ended.

Bella died. Not sure, but that was not expected and I cried.

So many awesome characters lost, but it is an ending. And yet, Rand lives on and the story is not ever truly over I suppose.

Dar, have you read the Companion? If you read the "B" section, you may find a small surprise ;)

I haven't read it either, but if it turns out Bela didn't actually die, I'm going to be very upset. The only thing worse than a favorite character's tragic demise is for the author to later say" lulz, just playing!"

Haven't read the Companion. Sounds like it would be a good idea.

Yes, while there isn't a lot of "new" information in the Companion, it is summarized in a way that allows you to make new connections :)

I first read WoT a bit like a preparation for GoT where actually everybody can die at any time, but I think it is even harder when people you know from the first book die kind of out of nowhere in the 37rd book. (Yes, in the german Version there are some more )

Okay two specific times the books made me cry. Spoilers ahead.... The death of Hopper and at the very end of the books when Rand gives his reasons choosing to stay on the side of the Light, talking about living again, loving again.
