Could it be an idea to book the whole hotel? Would be nice if we as a group could wreak havoc for three days and two nights without disturbing people. It would, of course, depend on the cost and how many of us who will shop up.

Could be interesting.
It's the old prison house, right?

The whole hotel is 43 beds. That is at least twice the amount of beds we usually need for a Euro Party.

Hiring the whole hotel will make the event a lot more expensive, and Sweden is already an expensive location. The booking we have is somewhat flexible, so if enough people sign up, we can book the whole hotel ;)

Got an idea where we can hang out, all of us, at the same time? :)

We will hire a conference room.
And this is a tourist event, so we don't have to hang out at the hotel all day ;)

So I was looking at train tickets and apparently during the weekend, they have a train from Kiruna to Umeå, but during the week it's a train from Kiruna to Luleå then a bus to Umeå. Wtf :indifferent:

Well, at least you can take the train home? :look:

How far is it from Luleå to Umeå?

Dam you all, this sounds so cool. After visiting Norway a good few times. Gig to Sweden properly would be good.
Well going on a ship crossing from Norway to Sweden and a big sweet ship near the borderbbetween Norway and Sweden doesn't count.

It's going to take me just as long to go by train as it is to drive, So I am most likely going to drive we shall see what my schedule looks like over the summer.

Guessing y'all have this well in hand, but, if not, some thoughts: Gröna Älgen (The Green Moose) is an excellent pub just a few mins from the hotel. Otherwise Båten (the Boat) can usually accommodate large groups on relatively short notice, and has okay food & drinks - but not great for people who feel queasy on boats. Orangeriet is a large venue right in the middle of town, where you can play games (boule, shuffleboard, pool) and just hang out in a large group. Food's so-so and a little pricey, but good vibe, and decent drinks. Plectrum is also a large venue adjoining the Scandic Hotel, fair food, not great drinks, but good place to hang out in a large group.

Those of you who enjoy good food - but don't wanna break the bank - and plan to stay for a couple of days after the meet, should really consider checking out Kvarkenfisk (lovely seafood-restaurant right by the water, on Rovögern island 30 mins' drive from Umeå - absolutely fantastic place to dine on a sunny summer evening), Bistro Le Garage (cozy French bistro 10 mins from central Umeå, with a great prix fixe menu). If you do want to break the bank - Hunger & Törst, right in the middle of town. If you enjoy long walks in wild but non-threatening natural environments, Arboretum North is worth checking out, as well as Norrbyskär archipelago and Holmön island (accessible by ferry). If you just enjoy long, pleasant walks, Ume river is... right there. If you'd like to explore the countryside by car after the meet, consider checking out Prestele garden café and B&B :)

For people who like museums, Umeå has the Museum of Women's History right smack in the middle of town, Västerbotten Museum a short walk or bus-ride from the city center, and Bildmuséet (museum of contemporary art) just a few mins from the hotel. If you have even more time to kill, Wasaline offers day-trips by ferry to Vaasa, in Finland.

If you want to bring back tasty souvenirs, don't forget to buy a hunk of Västerbotten cheese, and a bottle of Brännland ice cider.

Beware: Umeå is an absolute wilderness when it comes to kebab, and has just barely ascended from the state of nature when it comes to pizza.
