Soooo... many, many years ago, I stumbled across this lovely patch of the internet but alas, no sooner had I signed up (with an account long since purged - not that I can remember the details anyway, ha) life found a way to well, get in the way and I was never seen again...

*dramatic music*

UNTIL NOW!

Ahem. Anyway, the hype around the upcoming WoT show has rekindled my love of the books and I wanted to be around people who shared that love, preferably at a slower pace than Twitter because I'm old, my meme-fu is weak and I tend to type in really long, rambling sentences that can't be contained by 280 characters.

I'm starting a re-read of the series at some point this week, as it's been a couple of years and no matter how many times I read them, I always spot something new that I missed the last time around. I've been asked a few times how I can read the same books over and over again but the series just feels like home to me, the literary equivalent of putting a comfy pair of slippers on (just with more braid tugging and skirt smoothing).

My favourite character is absolutely not Elan Morin Tedronai or any of his later incarnations (especially not the pretty one, oh no) because what sort of monster would find someone that messed up interesting? Not me, that's for sure.

Beyond Randland related things, I live with my partner in a cold and rainy patch of northern England, along with a small, yappy dog and a really small, really grumpy chinchilla. I love football / soccer (because of my sins in a former life or my Nae'blis lust, unfortunately, I'm a Manchester United fan), I enjoy knitting but I'm terrible at it, currently trying to work my way up from hand sewing to be able to turn on a sewing machine without screaming because it moved. I like comics, as no doubt some of you have spotted from my avatar, MMORPGs, ball-jointed dolls and hoarding dice. I don't even play D&D (yet) I just like sparkly lumps of plastic.

I can't think of anything else to put here, mainly because it's approaching 2am but also because there's a chance if I do think of something it'll start yet another rambling paragraph and honestly, if you've read this far down you've suffered enough already.

Lovely to be here again, looking forward to being able to get to know you all better and may you always find water and shade or better yet, a comfy chair and a fancy drink with an umbrella in it.

Welcome (back)! :) I know exactly what you mean about the series feeling so comfortable.

Are you starting your reread with Eye of the World or New Spring? (I seem to go back and forth on which I start with myself )

Thank you both for the warm welcome!

I think I'm going to start with New Spring this time but it all depends on which book I find first

Welcome, Eryn! I am learning to sew on a machine and wish I could be better at hand-sewing.

Hope you enjoy looking around here!

Also you really made me laugh about your favourite character  I don't think I've seen that one before.

Welcome back! Today was an exciting day wasn't it? :D I'm thinking of starting a reread myself now that I'm properly excited about the show!

I'm going the other way with sewing... from machine to historical hand sewing. It's much more my speed I'm finding. I'm also big into knitting and just crafting in general. Come join us in the Hand Crafts forum when you get a chance. :pleased-1:

Thank you so much! If you ever find yourselves in my neck of the woods, you're all welcome for tea (just bring a lint roller if you're wearing black, the dog is like a blizzard of fur and very friendly )

Hi, Eryn! Welcome back. I feel like I recognize your name but I don’t know if I actually do it if it’s the power of suggestion.
