Why are so many relationships with younger women and older men?

This really is what I imagine Nynaeve what thinking at the beginning. Part of wanting Lan was getting at Moiraine but I think that the two them (Lan/Nynaeve and Nynaeve/Moiraine) learned to respect each other in the end!
