That was totally the title of my old dating profile hahaha! I am engaged and so I thought I would never get to use it again!

Yeah, so obviously I am super awkward so I am just going to steal this little questionnaire to make things easier...

1. Who is your favorite character in The Wheel of Time and why?
Moiraine Damodred. She is my idol. You know all those memes about being yourself unless you can be [insert someone else here]? She is my "insert someone else". She is so strong and so driven. She will do whatever she needs to do to get the job done...and she always does it with poise and class. She is inspirational.

2. How did you find TarValon.Net?
My thirst for WoT knowledge can never be quenched, and I often find myself going down rabbit holes and finding some rather interesting places!

3. What do you do? (student? job? hobbies?)
I am the mother of an amazing almost six year old boy. I am also an office administrator for an environmental engineering consultant company. I edit reports before they are sent to the EPA, deal with both Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable issues, and keep track of everyone's schedules.

For fun I love to read, and write, and roleplay. I love all kinds of art, but have very little talent myself. The walls of my home are decorated with the works of all my talented friends. I am interested in graphics and am attempting to learn Gimp after losing Photoshop - it has been an adventure.

I enjoy watching TV and movies, especially "bad movies". One of the theaters downtown does a monthly Bad Movie Nite where they show old B horror and sci fi movies which have been edited to enhance their comedic effect. Then the whole audience riffs on it throughout like Mystery Science Theater 3000. It is a blast! I also love Wes Anderson films and am a fan of all things dark and awkward.

4. Where are you from? What languages do you speak?
Try not to hold it against me, but I am an American. I am in fact from the heart of it all, Ohio. I live in my state's capital and honestly, Columbus is a pretty sweet city. And of course, being from the heartland of America, I only speak English. However, for me this is because I took Classical Latin in High School. I was also very spoiled as my parents let me choose the town we moved to for my high school and I based my choice solely on the fact it was the only one in the area that taught Latin. I did this because I had what I feel comfortable calling an obsession with Sherlock Holmes, and occasionally there were little quotes in Latin in those books that I wanted to be able to translate. I remember how to say, "the girl sits under the tree and reads"...but that is about it. It was not a conversation heavy class, and I haven't used it much since.

5. What is your favorite book or author other than Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time?
As I mentioned above, I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, but I will say I am not too crazy about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's other stuff. My favorite childhood book was Watership Down by Richard Adams. It was the first chapter book I ever read, and I still love Bigwig and Kehaar. And I am basically Emily Starr from the Emily of New Moon trilogy by Lucy Maud Montgomery (author of Anne of Green Gables).

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi and welcome!

I also have just starting learning GIMP in place of Photoshop. It’s tough because I’ve been using photoshop almost every day since... 2002 probably? GIMP is fantastic and powerful, not to mention free, but it’s pretty different in how it functions, so it’s frustrating.

Do you have any particular learning source you find helpful? Tutorials or some such?

Welcome! Another Moiraine fan here--what's your favourite quote or scene of hers? :)

I took a couple semesters of Classical Latin a few years back to fulfill a second language requirement for a degree, and I really enjoyed it. I like figuring out declensions!

Unfortunately, no! I mean I google things when I need help and usually find a tutorial, but I never like them enough to bookmark them and come back to them for other ideas/questions. How about you?
A hundred thousand welcomes, Avyanna! :welcome A new Citizen's Class is beginning June 1, and we hope you will join us! It's a great way to learn more about our community and get to know other members--and for us to get to know you. It's also quite fun!

The Class can be found here: https://www.tarvalon.net/index.php?threads/the-new-new-citizens-class.36212/#post-1578662

Hey lady! I worked in Columbus for a few years - not by choice, my company closed my Zanesville office. So I moved back to WV. We time to time do Ohio stuff (namely the Ren Faire near Cinci,) I'll loop you in!

Oops, I missed this at first - sorry!

Her Manetheren speech had me hanging on every word. I was hooked! Also, I have never heard anyone say they enjoyed figuring out declensions before. That is my kind of crazy! I had more of a, this is so cool until ten minutes later I threw my book across the room, relationship with declensions, but they definitely keep you on your toes and I do love the way it takes away the guesswork when you are reading it!

Thanks, it is Moiraine haha! It is by an artist named Bezum. I follow them on Twitter and requested to use it. I am still technically waiting to hear back on their approval, so I hope I don't have to take it down.

That's really cool! I hope you hear back soon. :pleased-1: I drew my own, so I kinda side-stepped that requirement.
