Welcome Jocasta!! :)

I was a WoT late bloomer too, I picked it up when my son was a toddler and I spent some time as a SAHM.

Welcome to the site, Jocasta!

I'm also a fan of boardgames.
Mysterium, Century: Golem Edition, Takaido, Charterstone, and a made up game with poker cards are currently my favorites! :D
Pit and Dutch Blitz are pretty good too

I love your avatar, by the way! :D

Welcome to Tar Valon! We're hung up on Betrayal at House on the Hill right now in my house. We're trying to get through all of the haunts before we get the expansion. I also now have even more books to add to my list of things to read.

I only recently began Scott Lynch's Lies of Locke Lamora!!! It seems to me that Wheel of Time folk tend to like the same stuff, that is why this is such a great community! Welcome!

Just as a bit of a "just in case", if you have any questions, the Membership Manual in the Library is at your disposal, as are the stickied threads in the forums, and of course, us. :pleased-1: Oh, just you wait till you get your 25 posts and become a Citizen. Threads galore! \o/

Yay! I feel so welcome already! Thank you everyone!

Thank you to everyone who likes my avatar, I can't claim any credit for it, it's art from an artist on deviantart who graciously said I could use it as long as I left her watermark (it's a very unobtrusive watermark so I don't mind that at all!)

Luna, I actually read through the entire membership manual before I signed up. I like knowing what I'm getting into. Part of my attraction to the community was the structure and the sense I get that you guys have been running a good thing for a long time!

Plus I needed someone to talk about books with, and my brother is farther behind in the series than me! So I get to an OMG part and have to wait for him to catch up!

And the similarities keep coming! Back when I joined, I also read through practically the whole thing - I wanted to do everything right before making an effort to join and stay. What initially drew me to this place was that it was the closest you could get to being an "actual" Aes Sedai in this world. The fact that it had ranks to climb and certain limitations to expect made it all the more motivating. (Though I can understand why it might also demotivate people at the very beginning, when there isn't all that much to do.)

I am very familiar with this! Do you think you'll be dragging gently encouraging your brother to join, too? :shifty

I have been plotting my entrance for several weeks now. Ha.

My brother is not a very forumy person, I don't think he'd be interested.

Was I supposed to call you Luna Sedai?

I guess; it doesn't hurt to try, and if he finds that he genuinely doesn't like it, he can just slip away. :pleased-1: But eh, in the end, it's his decision.

Technically, yes, you are supposed to include honorifics when addressing Aes Sedai and Gaidin unless the person in question says you don't have to. Personally, I am all right with you just calling me Luna if you wish. :pleased-1:

Oh, and one word of warning: we are going to be celebrating Bel Tine from April 8 to April 15, which means that nearly everyone will be changing their avatars, a new subforum will be opened, and it will be rather hectic for a week. :look: But of course, you are invited to participate as much or as little as you'd like. :D (Okay, that was 55 words of warning.)

Leala, I'm interested to hear how your game goes!

Well, once I got the basics of my character set up, we did a small encounter, where we all met up as a group for the first time. I'm playing an Autumn Eladrin who wields a spear...and I realized she really looks like a Maiden of the Spear.

That sounds fabulous! My current favorite character is my Tiefling Paladin Remember (that's her name, Remember.) She's sort of Galad inspired, in that she's so good she's bad sometimes.

I totally forgot Gawyn had a half-brother / brother? until now... wow!!!! for months I have been confusing Gawyn as the Paladin archetype and completely forgot Galad existed... to be fair its been a good 8 years for me since I read them... I have even made some arguments defending Gawyn chapters on these forums in last couple months... @Eliza Al'Shaw apologies you win! :desk

@Jocasta Braithe thank you for sparking my memory banks!
