EDIT: Never mind. I went into the glitter avatar thread in Graphic Projects and Requests and saw Anujun's explanation there. I will make new ones at 125x125. (And thanks for explaning the reasoning behind it and the process instead of just, "this is what you need to do." That was really cool!)

I wonder if it has something to with them being gifs. When I went to upload mine the site seemed to freeze, but after refreshing it was fine. I'm not a graphics guy though so . . .
