I plan to donate! When I do I’ll fill out the info :D

It’ll be my first time donating, pretty nervous but at the same time, exciting.

I am so excited that we have so many people donating blood and supporting their local communities!
Here is an update of how we are doing so far:

In March we've had 6 new pints donated!!!!! :joy

Over all that makes our total: 16 donated pints

It looks like reaching our goal of 25 pints of blood is going to be easy to reach this year! Way to go TarValon.net! You guys are awesome!

Actually there have only been 3 donations so far in March.
Just a little confusion on reading the spreadsheet. ;)

Also, because we were late in getting the form updated for this year, we only show the 3 donations total for 2018. If you donated prior to March, please fill out a form for the dates that you donated earlier in the year. It will help us see just how many donations we have in for 2018.

Second donation of the year today. My left arm continues to perform well. I was told to keep updated if I was planning to go traveling in Europe during the summer, as there's a 28 day wait after visiting a lot of countries between May and November due to the presence of the West Nile virus. Germany not currently on the list. Hope it stays that way!

How's it going for the rest of you?

Good Afternoon Everyone-

Wanted to give a mid year update as to the Blood Drive. As of today we have had 11 donations! The top donating member group is the Brown Ajah.

The rest of this message will be in Brown in their honor. I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to donate. I would like to thank everyone else for encouragement or donating in other ways. If you have not recorded your donation PLEASE do so.

We will be sending out a randomly selected prize to one person who donated. I will be drawing the winner on 7/1/2018.

The prize will be a Mat, Rand, Perrin print by A Burgess.

If one donation can save 3 lives, we have saved 33 lives so far this year- and can do so much more!

I'll report the donation I made in March, but I'd also like to point out that Dragon Con is coming up and they're always have a blood drive there. Why not get a free t-shirt and help the community at the same time? I'll be there for my double red donation!

This is a really good article by the Wall Street Journal.

You are correct Dnae, that if the pan is well seasoned it will transfer less iron to the food. It also depends on the cooking time and what kind of food it is. Even in a well seasoned pan there can be a transfer of iron molecules into the foods. Cooking with cast iron is by no means a perfect fix for someone with anemia, and a doctor should always be consulted to ensure there is not a potentially severe underlying issue, but it can help for those who are mildly anemic that wish to donate blood. ;)
