Yeah, HPN, White Plains is a tiny, but very close airport. Also, BDL, Bradley in Hartford CT is also close (will require renting a car, but it's going to be lots cheaper than the main NYC airports.)

*If* we were going to the party and wanted to spend an additional week for enjoying the indian summer after the party, where should we go?

That looks cool! It's completely the other direction that I thought about going to (which was Maine
), but I'm open to everything.
This looks like an adventure. All the ghosties and goblins. Just trying to find out how to get there is a hassle, it like a movie of plains, trains and automobiles.
