Cynayne started at the sound of snapping branches. Leaves rained down, followed by a man, and she doubled over with laughter as she recognized the gentleman, who seemed to be engaged in a sort of wrestling match with his coat. The coat seemed to be winning.

Satrim! What? Where did you..? Are you alright?

She got to her feet and tossed the pieces of broken branch into the fire. She offered a hand up, which Satrim, flapping about in the folds of his coat, waved off. He jumped up, quickly straightened his coat, and after a quick, glaring look up at his former resting place, squared his shoulders in an attempt to restore his dignity. Cynayne, still laughing quietly, wasn't helping.

Nothing hurt but your pride, eh? Come on, sit down and have something to eat. Tell me, how long before the gates open here? When I left home I brought sufficient food for the journey, but I must admit that I didn't count on it taking this long to get inside the city.

No sooner than the thought came to her, Cynayne heard the sound of the great City gate being opened. She gathered her few belongings quickly, packing some of the apples, cheese, and bread into the pockets lining her cloak, and ran for the gates.

Rays of sun shone brightly through the branches of the old apple tree, turning dust to glitter in the light. All was quiet, but for the occasional chirp of a bird, or the buzzing of an insect.

Cynayne, halfway to the gate, smacked herself in the head and, turning back, retraced her path to the tree, made a hasty grab for the bottle of spiced wine, and sped off to her future.

*Maple returns from her journey to Caemlyn. She slowly trots her horse over to the apple tree and looks around for people to talk to about her travels. No one seems to be around, so she starts rekindling the fire and searches through her bags for some food. Her horse, Artax, munches on the apples strewn about the ground. Suddenly, she notices that the city gates are finally open. She cries out happily, pats her horse on the nose and says, "You see, I told you they would open the gates eventually!". Maple quickly puts out the fire, climbs up onto her horse's back, and gallops towards the city gates to spend the day sightseeing in Tar Valon. She left two note taped to the tree that said:
"Nynra, I went to Frankfort and Munich. What I loved best about Germany was the architecture of the old buildings and houses!"
"Lythe, I will definitely plan a trip to Italy one day. It sounds so beautiful there!"

Heck yeah, a lot happened while you were sleeping. Blood and ashes, I didn't even realize you were sleeping, I just thought you were a funny shaped rock :cheeseeni:

Neo, if you wish to get noticed by the higher ups, I've got just the thing. *pulls a parcel from within the folds of my cloak and hands it over* Stick it somewhere crowded and give it a good shake. I suggest either running from it, wearing a gas mask or simply having no sense of smell like myself. Cause if you don't, heh... *waves a hand in front of my nose with a wicked grin*
