Definitely read the book first. I've just rewatched the movie (you inspired me to!) and it is the most beautiful thing ever. And it's very true to the book. But there are probably at least fifteen ways that the book is better than the movie, and only exactly three ways that the movie is better than the book. So it's worth reading the book first, and then you'll appreciate the three things in the movie more.

Okay, I will for sure read it first. I didn't realize that the book was originally self-published. I love finding out about self-published writers who became successful. It gives me hope
