Thanks, Locus Gaidin! Great to see you! :pleased-1:

I'm good, Loraella Sedai! A lot has changed since I last wandered these halls... I've returned to Australia, where I worked as a travel agent for a few years (rubbish job but the perks were awesome :look:) and now I'm working in financial services while studying toward my second degree (in Accounting this time). Oh, and I am completely obsessed with the Hobbit movies. How about you?

Yay for Australia and degrees!

I'm actually training to be a Chartered Accountant :D But I work as an auditor. Nothing wrong with being obsessed with the hobbit movies :pleased-1:

Oh that's brilliant! When do you finish your Chartered Accountant qualification? My friends who are already accountants tell me that audit is a lot of fun - apparently Audit and Tax are the two most popular areas, and coincidentally those are the two accounting subjects I have left to do (along with taxation law) :rolleyes

So far though, my favourite subjects have been Cost & Management Accounting, and Economics. So I don't know what the best job would be that incorporates those two... do you have any suggestions? I'll be applying for grad positions in the next few months (to start next year) so it's probably a good time for me to work out what direction I'm aiming for.

:fistbump Hello and a pleasure to meet you. I was just lamenting earlier about how I have zero clue what I want to do when I "grow up", so I think its pretty fantastic you've chosen to do Grad school and go for Accounting even whilst being uncertain about what you want to do with your life. Sitting still is the worst thing, you don't want to get stuck procrastinating (trust me I know lol). You're figuring it out by DOING rather than just idling and getting stuck in thought or possibility. To me, thats a huge deal.

Hi Corrine! :D I've always enjoyed study - for me, the risk is that I'll just keep doing degrees and never actually get myself a career! (I'm thinking Linguistics next ). At the time I went back to uni to do my masters, I felt stuck in a dead-end job and I would have done pretty much anything to give myself a way out. My father was an accountant, and I've always enjoyed working with numbers, so it seemed like a good fit - and I'm enjoying it, on the whole, so I suppose I was right! :)

Welcome to the Tower :D

What is your favorite book or author other than Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time? Well lately I've been obsessing over The Hobbit so I'm going to have to say Tolkien... but you know, ask me in a month or two and you'll probably get a different answer. :p

Two years later, do you have a different answer?

I'm surprised it's changed, with the way you can get caught up in Middle Earthiness.

I was just going to welcome you, and then I noticed you are an Aes Sedai already  That would have been embarrassing :embarassed:

I love Tolkien too! The Martian has been on my wishlist since the movie came out.

Welc... uh ... Have a nice day! ;)

Yeah, sorry about that Maple. I have a habit of dragging up threads from years ago

 Thanks Maple! And welcome to you (too)!

I highly recommend The Martian. The movie is AMAZING and the book is EVEN MORE SO MUCH HOLY PHWOAR BETTER.

Plus, Sean Bean is in the movie, for a particular scene, and hilarity ensues. :giggle ;)
