Hello to all,

In the interest of me being on a conference call right now and officially supposed to be paying attention, I thought I'd just answer the four questions in the Visitor post. :)

What is your favorite character in The Wheel of Time and why?

Mat. I actually started the Wheel of Time on book 2 since that was what I found in a bookshelf, and his character arc immediately intrigued me, plus I'm a sucker for the tarnished hero/alt-hero types (Han-Solo, etc).

How did you find TarValon.Net?

Several close friends are very active here, but alas, I don't know their forum names. I'm pinging them in a moment to tell them I finally joined and posted an introduction so I'll assume they'll hop in here and identify themselves. :)

What do you do? (student? job? hobbies?)

I'm a full-time software developer/architect that works on a cloud-based platform designed to automate business processes across an organization. I work from home, have no set schedule, and unlimited vacation time. It's pretty awesome.
I'm also a massive geek/gamer and collect board-games, with my collection currently around 300 or so.


What is your favorite book or author other than Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time?

Favorite author is currently Patrick Rothfuss as I love how he takes standard fantasy tropes, plays with them, and then throws them out the window while still recognizing the tropes and stories that came before that make fantasy great.

Wilkommen. Next step: pick a last name (it's required) and an avatar. Must be a certain size but if you find one you like I recommend you just post a link to it here, we can tell you if it's already taken without you having to comb the library and someone can resize it for you. Make sure you get one that's in the public domain or get the artist's permission to use it. Has to be humanoid (the permanent one does, we're having one of our two annual holidays and everyone gets a chance to play in their group's theme so you'll see all sorts of craziness for a couple weeks), preferably fantasy-themed though you'll see that's not remotely a hard and fast rule, and can't be a real person unless it's you. If you pick one now and want to change it later you can (within reason), so don't sweat finding the perfect one now.

Aaaaand I found my other friend. ;)

Honestly the name Feldaan came out of the random name generator in EverQuest and I kept it, haha. It's served me well for about 15 years now.

My favorite board-game is Scythe for multiplayer, and Twilight Struggle for 2 player. The multiplayer one changes frequently, Twilight Struggle is a constant.

And yep, I've played Mysterium. Haven't played it in awhile but it's a unique experience.

As to the rest of your suggestions, I'll set to work on those.

I'm envious of your board game collection. I've got about 50 at the moment, which is still a lot compared to most people, but nothing compared to yours. Do you have/know of any other good 2-player games besides Twilight Struggle? I always struggle (lol) to find people to play with, so the fewer required, the better.

Hi Feldaan, welcome to TV.net :) I'm a fellow EverQuest old-timer! ;) My current name is a slight twist on my old EQ name. I was on Lanys T'Vyl server for many years before it merged with 7th Hammer, and then ended up Antonius Bayle. Hope you enjoy your time here with us! :)
