Ok I must start by saying that I have not read any previous post in this tread by choice. I am just starting the Mistborn series so I dont want any spoilers.
Just wanted to say hi from a very new Sanderson fan, I finished finished the reckoners series and fell in love with Sandersons style in those books and when I just found out, like 10 minutes ago on this site, that there is more to come I find my self all giggely and wanted to read more from him.

I'm glad youve enjoyed your first Sanderson series. Mistborn is another good place to start because it is a finished, contained series. Though the Wax and Wayne books are still ongoing at this point. I introduced my brother to Brandon Sanderson first through the middle-grade Alvarez books and now he's read the first two Reckoners books.

I'm upset at myself for not noticing before.

The names are opposite of what I'd expect from their personalities.

Finished the first Mistborn book this morning. Really enjoyed the story and how smoothly Sanderson’s writing flows. Diving into The Well of Ascension tonight.

Have to admit it took me some time to get use to the magic system. It’s rather intriguing and fairly straightforward... it’s just I had to stop automatically thinking, “Oh, that’s gotta hurt,” or, “That’s gonna give So-and-so cancer at some point.”

Yeah, I struggled with remember what the different metals did, mainly because I didn't know the names of all those metals in English...

Also confusing is all the different names for the people who can only use one metal...

I mean, if they use up the metal doing magic, it won't stay in their body to give them cancer.

Good point, Dnae :) Would still have to be rather rough on their system to burn it assuming they even lived long enough attempting such dangerous things, too. That’s where the fantasy part comes in, of course. Just took a bit to not overthink it :)

I am not a fan of the second or third book in the series, but I love the first one :)
And I love the Wax and Wayne books :)

I always wondered if I was better off because I read the Mistborn trilogy after it was all out, so that I didn't have any time after Final Empire to imagine where I'd like to see it go from there. For me, the hugely different tone of each entry (and even the oft-maligned Hero of Ages) didn't bother me at all. I just saw the series as intentionally apocalyptic from the start. I guess I'll see if I still feel that way if Sanderson does something similar with the end of the Wax & Wayne series.

Mistborn is honestly quite good, although I feel like he took a bit from WoT. I've read both trilogies, and I'm excited for the book promised this winter. I feel like Sanderson is going to take us for a spin and do something like Wax's kid's point of view, but who knows? The lore for the series is put together nicely (although again, I feel like some of it feels Wheel of Time-ish), but if he does his next trilogy correctly it will be awesome.

I just finished the first book, and I enjoyed it. There were some surprises for me, but that's what makes a book good. I don't want to anticipate everything. I look forward to moving onto the Well, but I need to go read Stygian first.
