Hello :D

I just started to read The Wheel of Time series and I'm very happy to find this forum. I don't know how I could overlook the Wheel of Time for so long. I started with Book 1 shortly and I was absolut amazed. I got the Kindle Version (Book 1) but now I have all the paperbacks from Book 0 to 14, the World of the Wheel of Time and the Hardcover Version of the Companion. I'm totally hooked up ;).

I'm just in Chapter 20 so I have a lot to discover.

I'm an Administration Employee (for municipal authorities) and besides reading, I love hiking and writing. I found TarValon.net when I searched the internet for The Wheel of Time.

Be most welcome in Tar Valon, Cahr :) And welcome to the long ride ... reading all the books 1-14, New Spring, Companion, and World Book is a long journey; but it is very enjoyable. Have fun :)

Thank you all for your warm welcome :D.

@Sailea Nerid
I like adventure, fantasy, Sf and crime. So I like a variety of genres. I started mostly with SF about 3,5 decades ago (Asimov, Heinlein, Clarke, Dick, Pohl ...). Everything I could lay my hands on in a german translation. When it was easier to buy original, untranslated books in Germany, I trained my english and started to read the books in english.
In the crime genres I like Agatha Christie and Elisabeth George.
In adventures I read the classical ones like Treasure Island ans a couple more. Actually I learned to read with books from Karl May. A short time ago I discovered the books of Wolfgang Hohlbein (a german author) for me.
In fantasy I read Tolkien, Raymond E. Feist, Robert E. Howard, Ursula K. LeGuin and now Robert Jordan.
I'm not sure in which genre to put Arthur Conan Doyle but I like Sherlock Holmes.
And I like H.P. Lovecraft, so I should add horror to my genres. And I read Carrie and Salem's Lot by Stephen King.

@Elanda Tonil
I didn't have a favorite by now. I'm torn between Rand, Moraine and Nynaeve.

@Al'Amar El'Haldir
If I enjoy the rest of the books as much as I enjoy book 1, it will be a long but a enjoyable journey.

You have excellent taste, sir :pleased-1: I discovered Karl May several years ago when I was particularly bored and found some of his books in an old book stand and on the very attractive price of 2 €, I really liked them, I think I bought The spirit of the Llano Estacado (I hope that's how it's translated in English) and The Treasure of Silver Lake. I hope I can read him in German some day :pleased-1:

@Sailea Nerd
@Luna Morn Thank you you very much for your nice words :D.

@Nyavene l'Meer Your german ist very good.

Actually I feel very comfortably at TarValon. I have 2 questions:
1) Is it ok to use the first name when I write to someone in the forum or is it better to use the couple name? (e.g., do I write @ Cahr or @ Cahr Ystian?)
2) It has to do with question 1. I read in the Member Manual that I have to use the proper title. Does that mean I have to write Aes and then her first name or Aes and her first name and last name or Aes and then her last name?
Sorry if I overlooked it in the manual.

Thank you! I actually went to the German School here in South Africa and got my Abitur :P

1) Most people use their first names. Many even abbreviate them. For example, some people call my Nya.

2) Nothing overlooked. It merely means that you follow the name by the title. For example: Nyavene Sedai or Amarande Gaidin.

Does that answer your question? :)

Welcome, Cahr! What part of Germany are you from? I was fortunate enough to live over there when I was in high school years ago and absolutely loved it!

Welcome! I am pretty new here also. I'm currently re reading the series, but I know how it feels to get hooked on them(it's happening to me all over). I started them about a month ago and have barely been able to put my nook down since then. I bought the complete 1-14(with New Spring) so I've just been going through non-stop. It was exciting getting to read New Spring because I hadn't read it yet, and I started my re-read with it. After three weeks I am just started on The Shadow Rising(Book 4) on Saturday. I hope you enjoy your reading and the community here! It has been great for me so far!
